I could never understand why some people post their stories to RAAS before
they've finished them. There's just too many never completed stories out
there. It's just frustrating to the readers (and, maybe, embarrassing to
the writers?)
And I've never understood the complaint. A number of authors ask for
feedback to help write the next chapter. I know I rely on it a little.
Even without that factor, considering how long it takes to write a long
fanfic, when you're going to release the story in chapter format
anyway, it's too hard to wait! Understandable.
Yeah, it's annoying when multi-part stories you enjoy are stopped. But
would you rather they never have been posted? The better complaint is
against authors who don't finish their stories.

Hey, when u put out your first fic, u want to know if you're
actually a good writer or not. Some people think they did such a good
job, that they're going to get replies saying how much people love their
fic and when the next one is out.
My first fic was a lemon so well written, I got something like 25
replies for the first part all of them singing glory to my name. All of
them asking for more. I write so well!! Heh.

Seriously, the main problem is actually the ML. I for one, who
hardly has enough time to write, much less read, will read some of the
postings and think about replying, then forget to reply. Plus,
eventually, even I got sick of all the Ranma fics and eventually start
looking for interesting titles for particular fics. But wasn't the ML
for specific feedback and help for fics? Not really for praise.
Instead, me and WW like to spam as does everybody else.

So, from now on, I, RR, will try to read as many stories and give
you critical feedback. I warn u all now, I'm not going to be easy on any
of you. Heh. If it stinks, I'm going to say it stinks.
