You didn't like "An Akane to Remember"?  How often do you get to see the 
relationship actually advance?  It's so annoyingly static!  And Ranma 
jealous!  And Akane interested in somebody besides Ranma!  And the scene 
with the dragon where she says "Ranma...it's you I lo...", and the 
two holding hands at the end!  Only problem I had was they didn't even 
attempt more than one or two jokes...

It wasn't the plot, it was the execution. Pure schmaltz from beginning to 
end! Undiluted. Ack! The pacing was uneven (like all the OAVs, esp. too 
fast in the beginning). And when all the men got into drag - were the 
writers in a hurry for lunch? It all seemed heavy-handed and spread extra 
thick. The animation of the hydra sucked too.
