In general, a supporting cast of buddies to play cards with is a must.  So is
the occasional ruined date.  And most of all, personality conflicts.

  Not a bad idea.  Of Mousse and Ryouga I don't know who would be the neat
and messy one, though.  Of course, you don't have to stick that closely to
the original concept either.
  I've been playing with the idea of writing an "old Ranma" fanfic.  I
think it would be cool to write your idea with Ranma and Ryouga.  When
they're in their 40s Akane and Akari get fed up with them and kick em' out.
Of course, that's probably a little too close to the Odd Couple to be very
original.  But it would end differently (you couldn't _leave_ Ranma and
Akane apart).

Then there's the "Son of Ranma" fanfic I want to write, where Ranma Jr.
is just as awesome as his father, but not at martial arts.  (Ranma is
just thrilled with that, as you can imagine).

I'm kinda trying to develop idea 2 at the moment, but since I haven't seen
that much anime, I wouldn't be surprised if there were better odd couples
out there (er.. anybody in the BGC universe?  Sailor Moon?  Um... forget I
said Sailor Moon...)

I'm not a huge BGC fan, but it seems like Priss and just about anybody else
would work.
