A few comments on another great installment:
They're our *best friends!* I've known Nodoka since we were
children."
Soun ignored her. "Honor demands that we shun them,
and that is what we will do." She started to protest, but
Soun cut her off. "I will not debate this point! They are
not to see us or speak with us *ever again!*"
She might keep a back chanel open to Nodoka, nonetheless. This could
have story possibilities, like a letter from Mrs. Tendo turning up
someday.
He'd been unsuccessful for many years trying to
find someone to marry one of us, and that hurt him. He was
^ suitable
Just finding anyone shouldn't be difficult; finding a suitable martial
artist to carry on the tradition is another matter. Hence Kuno works
in this role because he's a fairly good martial artist (especially in
this timeline).
[Kasmi] didn't trust Ranma with Akane. "I guess the only way to be
sure what his motives are would be if we actually sat down and
talked to him about it."
It's worth a try, but if he's really vile he could just lie.
Actions are what count---fortunately, Ranma's up to this test.
Excepting when it comes to outright throwing away female
interest/affection.... Pity that :-)
`Mom must be in the bath,' Ranma thought dismissively.
'Dismissively' is a bit strong in connotation for this sentance.
[Ranma] told them about the fight with Kuno, but skipped the part
about Akane.
Mot to mention Ranko's "WHIP HIS ASS!" cheering :-)
I wonder what Nodoka thinks about her otemba (tomboy) daughter. I
guess we find out later in this installment, but I think Ranko's a bit
more of a tomboy than her mom realizes. At least the Ranko *we* see.
Speaking of Nodoka's opinions of her children, I wonder if she'll ever
(or you could have Ranma imagine her) ask Ranma "Ok, Mr. Space Alien,
when did you abduct my son and replace him?"
Ranma sighed lowly, forgetting that his father had a
tendency to overreact.
How about "... lowly; how could he forget about his father's
tendency...".
Looking forward to more!
