However, Ranko may feel that way about Ranma simply because the "new"
Ranma acts so differently from old Ranma, that it is almost impossible to
see the two as the same. Also, Ranma seems to somehow encourage her
responses subconciously.

I agree with most of what you're saying. Sure, Ranko is faced with
this entirely different person than the one she knew before, and not
only is he nice and funny, he's also kind and caring. I still don't
think, however, that the motivation is sufficient enough for her to
want to start a relationship with him, or vice versa. See, she
has lived with him as a brother for so long, that I can't see her
suddenly changing gears to think of him sexually. As for Ranma,
you can tell that he's treating her like a sister (kidding her,
wanting to protect her) and his excitement towards her at Tofu's
is mostly a primal reaction to seeing naked female flesh, rather than
a lust for his sister. As he stated himself, it had to do more with
Akane than Ranko!

So, this is why Ithink the lemon side stories that people are proposing
for this series will be interesting to read, but in the end (no pun
intended) I'll end up deleting them.
