I know that there are some Dr Who fans on this ML and it was with deep
regret that I learned of the death of one of my childhood heroes today.

The actor Jon Pertwee (the 3rd Doctor) passed away aged 76 as a result
of a heart attack in his sleep; he was enjoying a well earned holiday
with his family in the USA.

I can't find the words to properly express my feelings at the moment
and hope that the other fans will remember him as I do, for his flair,
wit and great sense of theatre he bought to the role; I for one will
sadly miss him.

I agree. And the truly tragic thing is that he died when
his episodes were undergoing attacks on all sides. Doctor
Who always has its periods when certain Doctors are thought
more of than others, and I'm sorry that he passed away when
his period was undergoing such criticism.

My first Doctor Who was a Jon Pertwee story. Although he's
not my favorite, he'll always be The Doctor.
