KISS OF DEATH
It was dark outside as Remy lay in bed reminiscing over the past week. =
He remembered how he had met Serena, who'd have thought such a klutzy =
girl would be capable of inspiring such feelings.
Remy smiled at the thought of their first date. He had waited waited =
for her after school, Serena was very surprised!..... But not nearly as =
surprised as he was after watching her eat!!...
He kept seeing her after that. It was so weird, the more he saw her, =
the stronger his feelings got....There was something about her.
Remy closed his eyes.... He had become so engulfed in his thoughts that =
he didn't notice that the night had become dead still.
A bright red luminescent blob oozed through the wall. It formed a pool =
on the floor, it started shaping into a human form. Soon this thing =
stood facing Remy's bed.
--"Remy...." whispered the thing in an icy voice
Remy opened his eyes and saw the figure standing before him. He sat up =
bewildered.
--"What the....?"
--"No need to struggle, Remy, it's your destiny..."
The creature advanced towards him, it extended its 'arm' and reached =
into Remy's chest.
--"Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!" Remy screamed in pain =
as the creature entered his body.=20
A hot wind whirled around him from the groung up. His hair danced wildly =
as if it were a nest of golden snakes, his eyes glowed red and his voice =
was shut off while his conscience, mind, and will were ursurped by The =
Hunter.
At that very moment, across town, Rei wakes up suddenly. She had a =
frightening feeling. She had sensed a great evil force that would =
become a growing threat to the scouts' lives.

on her computer.
--"What's that you're working on ?" she asked
--"Oh,this? Well I've been carefully logging the strange weather =
changes we've had all week... It all seems to have originated the same =
day that light appeared in the sky..... If my hunch is correct, then =
the light we saw was the result of a tear in the Astroplane..."
--"Astro-what?" asked Serena eyeing some new comic books on Rei's bed.
--"The astroplane, I'll explain some other day... The point is that =
this rupture could have caused an instability in our atmospheric =
pressure and thus causing all this weird weather..."
--"Hey! maybe Rei's monster came from this Astro-thingamaging and is =
planning to kill us with bad weather hee, hee.." joked Serena. Rei =
frowned at her.
--"Oh grow up Serena, this is no time for lame jokes. Besides, that is =
the most ridiculous, hairbrained thing I've heard in all my life!" =
scorned Luna
--"Not quite Luna, Serena may have stumbled on to something... It is =
possible for this force Rei spoke of might have caused that tear in =
order to travel to our dimension from a parallel world"
They all remained quiet for a few seconds. Artemis leapt onto the window =
and looked outside. "Hmmm, that would clear up the question about the =
light. But we are still in the same spot... How are we supposed to fight =
this thing?" he said.
--"Girls, I really don't think we'll get anything else done staying =
here", added Luna. "Besides, I want to go home before it starts =
raining, so I say we call it a day... Also, Rei needs her rest"
--"Yeah, you're right... but remember to keep your eyes open, we don't =
know when this thing will attack, so be on your guards" seconded =
Artemis.
They all started to leave. Rei got up and walked them to the door.
--"Serena, would you mind staying a while?" she asked.
Serena was about to take a crack at the request, but the worried look on =
Rei's face stopped her.
--"Sure Rei, I'll stay if you want...." she looked at the other
girls who were just as puzzled as she was. "I guess I'll see you guys =
tomorrow then... Amy, could you drop Luna off at my house please?"
--"OK..." answered Amy.
After the girls left, Serena and Rei sat near the fireplace in awkward =
silence for a while.
--"I didn't want to say this in front of the others... Serena, I am =
specially worried about you..." Rei finally said.
--"Why?" asked a spooked Serena.
--"Last night, you were in my dream... A shadow hovered over you all =
the time, then it turned into a man, he started chasing after you. =
You ran into a dead end...and...."
--"And what??!!!" Serena asked axiously
--"And nothing... then I woke up!" Her eyes shimmered with reflections =
of the fire.
Serena felt her heart sink. "But... What does it mean?"
--" I don't know, but I'd fell better if you started acting more =
responsible... please Serena, it would mean a lot to me..."=20
The expression on her face made Serena realize how serious this whole =
deal had been all along. All she could manage to do was nod her head.
They talked a while longer about the things Serena would do if =
confronted by the creature.
Rei looked outside,it was raining hard. "Maybe you should stay until the =
rain lets up a bit" she offered.
--"Oh no,I'd better go home...My mom doesn't know I'm here, she'd =
worry... Thanks anyway"=20
--"OK, then I'll walk you home."
After some arguments both girls agreed to walk together. They had =
reached the bottom of the stairs when a silver car pulled over and =
stopped in front of them. The passenger door opened and Remy smiled at =
them.
--"Hey Serena and company, want a ride?"
--"Remy! How'd you know i was here?" asked Serena. She pulled Rei
towards the car.
--"I didn't... I was just passing by."
--"So early?..." Rei questioned suspiciously
--"Oh Remy... This is my friend Rei....I uhh....we had a =
sleep-over...yeah.... Hee hee hee!"
Remy extended his hand. "Nice to meet you Rei..." Lightning crashed in =
the background. Rei shook his hand, it was cold as ice.
--"So, can I take you girls somewhere?
--"No, just me... Rei lives up at the temple, she was just going to =
walk me home."
Rei felt uneasy about letting Serena go, but she knew it would be silly =
to stop her.
--"Serena, call me as soon as you get home, OK?
--"Sure, don't worry...I'm in good hands..."
Serena climbed into the car and waved goodbye to Rei as they sped away.

That night as Rei sat in front of the fire meditating, a vision came to =
her.
She saw Remy laying in bed, his eyes closed. The scene of how The =
Hunter had possesed his body repeated itself in her head...... Rei was =
frightened by the vision and ran out of the room. She reached her =
favorite spot by the pond and started thinking of a way to tell Serena =
about Remy. The rain had stopped hours before and the musky scent of =
wet dirt surrounded the air. The sky had cleared up revealing a shroud =
of star bathed beauty.
The sound of footsteps interrupted her thoughts. She followed the sound =
towards the temple's shrine, as she approached she saw a man praying... =
Rei drew closer, she recognized Darien....=20
--"Darien, what are you doing here so late?",she asked him=20
--"Oh, hi Rei, I couldn't sleep so I came here... It's so peaceful, it =
always helps..." He looked at the moon and let out a weary sigh.
Rei looked at him, she sensed his pain. "You're worried about her too, =
aren't you?..."
Darien looked away in embarrasement. He couldn't let her know how he =
felt, all those sleepless nights, the nightmares... the jealousy.
--"Just because I don't love her anymore doesn't mean that I don't care =
about her... It's my duty to protect her and all of you... But I feel =
that it's not enough." He replied after a while.
--"I know what you mean..." Rei thought about all the times he had =
saved them, even under the control of the Negaverse...still something =
told her there was more to his worries than that. "Darien... do you =
know the guy Serena's been going out with?"
Darien's face grew pale, his heart sank and a hot feeling numbed his =
ears. "Guy?.... I uh......I think I saw him once..." he lowered his
head and closed his eyes.
Rei continued... "I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about him... =
he seems so...I don't know... I just don't trust him... Darien, are you =
alright?" She poked him on the shoulder.
--"Huh?... Oh, I'm sorry Rei... I feel very tired... I think I had =
better go home. Good night ..."
Rei saw him walk away slowly towards the street. She could have sworn =
she heard him gasp.

Serena opened the bedroom blinds, the day was bright and sunny. Just =
perfect for a picnic! Remy would be there any minute now.... Hopefully =
he wouldn't forget to stay outside. She couldn't help drooling over the =
thought of strawberry shortcake.
There was a knock at the door. "Serena, there is a young man downstairs =
looking for you..." her mother's voice announced... =20
--"Oh my gosh! he forgot.... My dad's going to cream him!" She ran
downstairs to find her father and Remy involved in a very friendly =
conversation.
--"Yeah you're right... I guess I never though of it that way!" Serena's =
father said and patted Remy on the shoulder... Serena stood open mouthed =
astonished at her father's behavior.
Formalities out of the way, they left for the park. They arrived at a =
beautiful spot by the lake.
--"Sereeenaaaa!!!!" Rei called from a distance. She ran towards them.
--"Rei! what are you doing here?" Serena asked annoyed.

--"Hey there! wanna join us?" asked Remy.
--"Uuh... I don't think so, thanks.... Serena I really need to talk to =
you for a second." She turned to Remy "Do you mind?"
--"Not at all, I'll just go get some stuff from the car" he said and =
walked away.
Once he was out of hearing range Rei began talking:
--"Darien was at the temple last night...."
--"Listen Rei, I don't want to talk about him....." interrupted Serena
she walked towards the lake, she squatted and stared into the horizon.=20
--"Whatever Darien does is none of my business anymore.....he made it =
be that way, I tried my best Rei, you know how I tried..." she looked at =
Rei.
--" Serena, he was worried about you... As a matter of fact, he asked =
me to come get you. He said he had something important to tell you. =
He's waiting for you at the other side of the park... It's very =
important you have to go!!"
--"But what about Remy?"
--"Don't worry, I'll make something up..... Now go!!" Rei shoved her. As =
Serena hurried away, Rei braced herself for the coming confrontation. =
Her heart beat rapidly as she watched Remy approach her.
--"Where'd Serena go?" he asked
Rei gathered all her courage, and took a deep breath
--"I sent her away..."
Remy stopped a few feet in front of her. His face was hard as stone.
--"Why would you do that...Rei?" his voice became raspy and cruel.
--"I know what you want.... but unforunately for you, the Sailor Scouts =
are not easily defeated!"
--"I am impressed... you know the game very well don't you...Sailor =
Mars?" he smiled fiendishly.
--"I'm glad you noticed... And now prepare to bite the dust!" Rei =
transformed into Sailor Mars.
--"Tsk, tsk....Silly Sailor Mars, don't you realize that the only =
reason why you and your pesky friends are still alive is because I =
have allowed you! You turned out to be smarter than I gave you =
credit for... Too bad I have to kill you..." He dropped the CD case he =
was carrying.
--"I don't think so Nega-scum!" Rei got one of her anti-evil scrolls... =
"Mars fireballs... Charge! make this monster leave Remy's body now!" She =
launched forward.
Before she could touch the scroll to his body it burst into flames. =
Remy laughed at her failed attempt.
MEANWHILE:
Darien waited in the rose garden..... He thought about what Rei had told =
him the previous night. Why was she so suspicious of Remy?
--"Darien?" Serena called out.
He turned to face her.
--"Hi Serena....where's Rei?"
--"She told me you wanted to see me... she dragged me away from my =
picnic with Remy, she said you had something important to tell me"
Darien's heart sank at the mention of Remy.
--"Really? She told me that YOU wanted to talk to me....."
BACK WITH REI AND REMY:
--"You'd better leave his body now!" Rei threatened.
--"Or you'll do what? Bore me to death with your corny speeches?"
Remy raised his arm and three daggers appeared in the air. He swung his =
arm and the daggers flew towards Rei. Luckily she was able to avoid the =
attack. She lunged at him with a swing kick. He didn't have time to =
avoid it and was thrown back by the impact. Rei landed behind him and =
quickly summoned another attack... "Mars Fire Ignite!"
The fireballs flew towards Remy who just stood there. He closed his =
eyes, extended his arms and yelled "Shadow filter!!!". The fireballs =
passed right through him. Sailor Mars watched in disbelief.
"Enough! I grow weary of this game! You are just wasting my time...."
He stepped aside to reveal Rei's grandpa buried up to his waist, =
unconscious. =20
"You bastard! you cowardly bastard! what have you done to him!!!" she =
ran to his side. She turned around but Remy was gone. She started =
pulling him out of the hole he was buried in. Her grandpa woke up and =
grabbed her by the wrists...... He started laughing. "Now I have you =
right where I want you, foolish girl.... you are no match for The =
Hunter" Rei found herself trapped by Remy. He had used an illusion to =
trick her.
--"Let me go!!" she struggled to free herself, but his grip was too =
strong. Remy pulled her towards him as if he would kiss her. He opened =
his mouth and began absorbing her energy.
--"Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!"
Rei's body fell limp on the ground. Remy pulled one of the daggers from =
the sand and cut himself on the arm. He fell to his knees and blacked =
out.
Serena and Darien came running. They saw both Remy and Rei laying on =
the ground.
--"Oh my God..... Rei, Remy!" Serena rushed to their side. Darien =
looked at Remy's bleeding arm... He was secretly glad, but he tried to =
dismiss the feeling. Remy stirred.
--"Nnngh...Sere....na.....Rei, gotta ...help....Rei..."
Darien looked at him coldly, he walked past him and Serena. He picked =
up Rei and started to walk away. He turned his head back and spoke to =
Serena in an emotionless voice.
--"Get your boyfriend... We gotta get them to a hospital."
Serena helped Remy up, she place his arm around her neck and her own arm =
around his waist. As they walked behind the silent Darien, Remy =
secretly smiled, his eyes flashed white for a second..... One down, four =
to go....
