Could you expand on this a little? I did some research on the fanzine,
and all indications are that it's legitimate. I was sorta thinking of
maybe sending a fanfic to them. Is there a reason I shouldn't?
I'd say that the first indication is that they are making money from
getting YOU to write the stories and draw the pictures that go in it,
and they don't pay you for it. Someone said something about getting
10 magazines for free and a t-shirt, but they should really be paying
you money since that's what's keeping their magazine working, and what
will be giving THEM money.
WRONG ANSWER - If they offer to pay you for fanfics, RUN AWAY.
Not what I was getting at.
Fanzines are ignored by The Powers That Be, as long as they DON'T make a
profit.
True, there are 'zines out there that try t make a profit, and a few that
do, but submitting to them is the legal eqivalent of spending a
thunderstorm on a hill on the golf course with your nine iron held skyward.
What I was saying is that THEY are MAKING MONEY out of YOUR FANFIC. THAT
is totally wrong. a) Because you don't get paid b) Because it's breaking
copywrite for making money out of something that isn't really legal to
begin with. So they are ripping you off and doing illegal things...
OH Bugger. Now you've gone and made me violate the third law of the
universe!
Kun-chan is supposed to be Always Right! >_<
