Hiya Bert,

Robin!!!! You're still there!!!! :) I was thinking about you the other
day...they were talking on the radio about Stan Freburg (you know, 'St.
George and the Dragon Net'?), and I immediately thought of you. :)

Sorry I haven't emailed lately; real life sort of interfered with my
emailing several people, and I wasn't really online for about a month
because of various things. :/

So how's things with you? :)

I was beginning to think you'd given up writing; but the sky is still
blue, there's one moon and one sun in the sky so that's out of the
 question! (large grin)

Heh heh heh. No, I haven't given up writing. :) I'm stiiillll going, and
going, and going.... :)

This must some kind of world record; BGZ#10 turns up on Saturday and I
manage to C&C it on Sunday.

Aha! A slow weekend I see. <g>

Between waiting for the results of interview to come through (yes I'm
looking for another job - had a difference of opinion on something) and
your story; there's now a hole on the edge of my chair's cushion!

Ack! :P May I ask what happened? Are you mired in the depths of
unemployment paperwork and horsecrap right now? :/ Geez....hope you get
the job. :)

It's certainly a nerve wracking time; I hope yours are steadier than mine.
Last time we communicated you were 'on the brink' having been treated
to lunch. Was it a successful foray ? and I'm not refering to the lunch.

Well, I have indeed started the new job (yes the foray was successful).
It'll do for a while, I suppose, but it isn't really what I want to make a
career out of. (Short version- I travel around doing plant tours and seeing
if we can sell them stuff. Other times I'll be helping out back with either
equipment repairs, or making some stuff.)

I *still* want to get into a more computer oriented job. Something Internet
development related would be ideal. Okay, so maybe I don't know many
programming languages (very rusty Basic is all I can claim now, although I
did have Fortran at one time), but I'd sure like to try learning it!! This
current job will help me to pay the bills off, and hopefully save a bit.
(Any suggestions on how to steer more for a computer-related career?)

Okay, now on with the show ...

Oh goody! :) *Grabs the popcorn*

** Should this be quoted in some manner ?
** It's not immediately apparant that this is Priss's thought.
** Eg `I should've known`
** or 'I should have known' <- dropping the contraction to avoid
** back quotes that sometimes confuse
** peoples mailers.

Well, I'm writing this stuff in Word6.0, and all thoughts are italicized.
Unfortunately, this does not come through when converted to ASCII. :P

Well, she was over the limit and over 60; I didn't want to be more specific
than that. ^_^

I figured you'd like that one! ^_^

** ^^^^^^
** Who/what is 'diet' in this context - A slimming excercise ? ^_^
** Will this be explained later ?

The 'Diet' is the name of the Japanese government (not the federal, the
municipal level IIRC). It's mentioned by that name briefly in BGCrash! #1.
It also turns up in Germany as the name of certain governing bodies. Since
it's kind of obscure, I'll either change it, or ask Hitomi what the correct
term is and work an explanation into there. :).

** Now if you're going for the "diet" pun then how about ...
** "The bean-counters have never been able to see past the

Oh it wasn't a pun, but I'll keep it in mind. :)

** MIYAAAA! Who let Ryoohki in here ? ^_^
** MIYAAAA! - Strike two :)
** MIYAAAA! - Strike three :)
** And the cat's now out <groan>

You liked the witty remarks then, I take it? ^_^

[Hardware downsizing...]
** Foreshadowing I presume; however it sticks out as such
** like a sky-scraper in the middle of a vast plain.
** Sylia's gentle reprimand of SK's suit tinkering was nicely
** done, although again I get an itchy feeling of foreshadowing
** Uh oh ...

In some ways it is meant as foreshadowing, but it's also meant to reveal
that Sylia's back in full command, or at least trying to get there. ^_^

** I could be wrong (if fact I probably am) but I thought
** the term was myonomer - a contraction of :
** myo - derived from the Greek word muos (muscle) and
** monomer - single filiament/strand

Well, I'm not sure either, but I've always used 'myomer'. I think I first
saw it in a Battletech book, and they were described as multiple-fibre
artificial muscles. I took that to be a contraction of myo-polymer. We can
undoubtedly find someone to dispute me. :)

** Presumeably a contraction of "sexaroids" - but it
** breaks the flow up, having to stop and think about it.

Gotcha! I'll change that then. (I figured common usage would turn it into a
slang term....)

** The mental image of the unamed sexaroid crying and struggling
** to escape from the battlemover is very good.

Thanks. ^_^ Don't you just hate Hollister? ;)

** 'Doc' is begining to be quite a likeable character with

Thanks....more to come on ol' Doc. ^_-

Don't worry...I have no plans to be as naughty as Z9 was in spots....yet. ^_-

me."

** Those scenes were lovely.
** The events I went through last/this year made it especially poignant.
** <wipes away a small tear>

Oops! Sorry about that! :/

Anyhow, SK (i.e. ME!) still has feelings for Nene, so it wasn't really that
easy to write either. :/

** Uh oh - I have this terrible sense of two-boding
** Mink: "TWO-boding ?!?"
** Tempest: "Yup two-boding; some thing small and nasty is about to happen."
** Mink clasps a hand to her forehead and groans.

*SkyKnight groans as well...* ^_^

** Tempest: "See I told you so; he's been got by the tentacles.
** Good jobs it wasn't the warlocks."

Huh? o_O??? What's a warlock doing in MegaTokyo?

** Okay so I was wrong - something *large* and nasty. <grins>

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *Evil mode on* >:)

** Or maybe track the target by the electronic 'fog' pattern.
** After all a large blob of 'nothing' is just as big a giveaway ??

The interference is blanketing *everything*; it's impossible to isolate null

Naturally...it's sort of like one of those 'Anime Laws'. ^_^

** Plural !?!?

Plural. ;)

** HOLY SHIT!!
** Bert I take my hat off to you, that was one *hell* of a combat sequence.
** I'm lost for words; if there were any errors in it ... well you had
** me so wrapped up in the scene I just went straight past them.
** And I re-read it twice!!
** Congratulations.

Thank you, thank you...no autographs please. ^_^

"He's figured out who I am," came the strained reply.
** Uh oh, more trouble brewing ...

You don't say! ;)

** Hmm, I guess there's a whole vanload (or maybe it's a fleet of
** containers) worth of trouble to go in here.
** Tempest gets out the *large* bottle of tranquilisers in readiness;
** "I get the feeling this is going to be a stormy ride ..."
** Mink sniffing the air: "Hmm, do I detect the hand of messrs Stryker,
** Madigan and Hollister ?"

Oh, you'll see....and it's going to blow the lid off of things.
WAHAHAHAHAHA!!! >:)

** Damn it, you've really got it in for poor little Nene haven't you ?
** Cast once more into the seething maelstrom of hurt and pain.

Well, you'll eventually get to see just *why* it happens to her again. I
will tell you that she does recover fully...and some other good things do
come out of it.

** However it does make marvelous reading even if it does strike
** a chord deep within me; a much milder version of SK's feelings
** for Hollister.

I told you that SK still has deep feelings for Nene.

** Be carefull of I'll set Mink on you! <*very* *big* GRIN>

I'm not worried. She's just a kid, and I've got my hardsuit. -_^

** I'm on tenterhooks for the climactic confrontation between
** SK and Hollister - Book now for World War 3 ??

On sale now! Previews for Zone #11!!!! *Listens to screams of anguish....* ^_^

** Oh boy is SK *pissed* off !!

You don't say! ;)

<revamp>
** ^^^^^^
** Is this something that has been done or is going to be done
** and to which section does it refer (above or below) ?

It refers to a little bit below, and some stuff I need to add there. :)

** Yup a *VERY* PO'd SK

You don't say!! ;)

** I'm now wondering just how much will be left of my nerves
<SNIP>
** wrapped up in the plot I was.

Thanks! ^_^ Glad you enjoyed it! More will follow as soon as RL allows me
to write some more. With the new job, I'm not sure how much time I'll have,
but we'll see. :)

With respect to the Tempest Chronicles, I'm sorry I didn't C&C you earlier
on them. :( I've got about six fics of varying length in my 'to read' box,
and I don't have the facilities to print them out so I can read them in
spare moments. I promise I'll try to get to your story soon, okay? :)

Anyhow, take care, and good luck in the job hunt. With someone of your
caliber of computer knowledge, I don't think you'll have much of a problem. :)

Yol Bolsun! ^_^
