WARNING! LARGE RANT AHEAD!

I disagree strongly.

First - WW is not elected, paid, sponsored, assisted, or appointed. He
runs the FFML because a) He can, b) He wants to, and c) people like and
subscribe to it. The list is not a democracy. If the guy who runs it feels
that there's a problem, well, he's the boss.
Having WW step down? Heh. Right. All you need to do is find someone
else who has the equipment, knowledge, and patience to run the list. For
that matter, there's nothing to stop such people from starting their own
list any time they feel like it.
WW runs this thing as a public service, and bless him for it. ;)
Comparing him to a polititian on election day isn't very accurate - he
isn't running for anything, the office he holds has no monetary or similar
rewards, and it's also a lot of work.

Second - Spam can be and is a problem. Some spam is a good thing, and
keeps the list from becoming another RAAC. But oceans of it scares off
people - many can't handle the spam; others, like myself, can't subscribe
to other large MLs because of the amounts of mail be get from this one. As
an author, I tend to dislike things that diminish the size of my audience.

Third - People who ask for less spam are not a minority. On the contrary;
people who spam often are the minority.

Fourth - And yes, this post is spam. But I don't spam often; my Fanfic/C&C
ratio is higher these days than my spam ratio. This, IMHO, is a good rule
of thumb to use if you're uncertain if you're spamming too much.

In the spirit of friendly disagreement,
