For all of you who read Richard's comments on Marisa Price's Lesson
in Love, I would have to agree with him mostly. I think that his
comments about Ryouga, Ukyou, and Ranma being out of character were
very true, I have never read Ranma to react so poorly in a
situation as this, or for Ryouga to react so calmly as this. But I
have to disagree with his points on the ending. He pointed out
that the ending seemed a bit huffy, too pat, but I don't believe
this to be so. Akane does get angry very quickly but she also
loses her anger very quickly (note: I'm refering to fights with her
and Ranma and Ranma apologizes sincerely (Desperatly Seeking
Shampoo, Ranma series Vol. 5....), she is a forgiving person
(sometimes). We all know she loves Ranma very much and given her
position (in a hosp.. clinic bed) she was willing to listen to
Ranma.
I have yet to read LIL part XIII, but I think what you say is true.
For Akane, her anger rarely lasts more than the few moments when she
smacks Ranma. Of course, for more important issues, that tends to last
longer. Since I haven't read it, I naturally won't know what kind of
'hate' we're looking at here, but I still think Akane would listen to
Ranma. Maybe not at first and she might yell at him and such, but she
would eventually listen to him.
Richard nobody hates you for your criticism, you're doing your part
as a member of the ML and helping Marisa out to be a better writer.
I liked your criticism. Very insightful. Marisa has an excellent
story here and I can't wait to read the end of it.
I think the main problem is that LIL has become, shall we say, so
lovable and hateable. I absolutely loved the first 8 parts. I still
like all the others, but the direction of LIL conflicts with my personal
views. Misa, it is still a very good story, even if I don't agree with
what you did to Akari, Ryouga, and Ukyou.
