Sorry, I just have to get this off my chest. No hard feelings, ok? :)
Okay, I know your position...
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Why does this happen to Ucchan in every
single fanfic where her relationship with Ranma is resolved??? Do authors
like tormenting her by never letting her get Ranma?
Not particularly. I love Ucchan but I wanted to show how good a
person she really is, compared to Shampoo or Kodachi. She is, for all
purposes, the perfect girl for Ranma, but Ranma just doesn't see her that
way because he really loves Akane. That is the tragedy of Ucchan ;_; BTW,
I love Akane too.
Ukyo almost got Ranma, and Ranma was willing too, but I had to throw
in Akane at that point.
What if maybe at the end after Akane left, she just resumed what she was
doing with Ranma?
Then it wouldn't be a tear jerker. It would highlight how cruel
Ukyo would be if she did, and we all know how nice she can be. Think about
it.....
To make out with Ranma right after Akane leaves, she would have to
lie to Akane and tell her that Ranma isn't here at all. She does that in
the story, but only to avoid bloodshed. What matters is the thought. I
played up how Akane was looking and feeling VERY depressed and unhappy, and
more than a little worried for Ranma. Ukyo, being kindhearted and
sympathetic, responded to Akane the way she did.
If Ukyo did resume her 'play' with Ranma after Akane left, she would
have to betray Akane's sudden declaration of trust in her (Akane said that
she _knew_ Ukyo wouldn't take advantage of the situation...of course, we
know better. And being in tears tend to bring out the truest emotions of
the heart - this being Akane sort-of sees Ukyo as her friend). And Ukyo
always struck me as an honorable girl.
Besides, it'd be kinda hard for Ukyo to grab at Ranma again after
Akane left.....if you think it through, Ranma would no longer be in the mood
and Ukyo would still end up without Ranma. Terrible, no?
My bottom line is, this was just a slice of life, as one good member
of the ML had put it, and affects in no way the overall plot of the
Ranmaverse. Like my message before the story, it was done in the spirit of
'Red'......
Who knows? Maybe tommorow something might happen. Nothing definite
had been set with Ukyo and Ranma's little escapade in her room.
On another note...don't let your personal views of "who should get
whom" color your view of a story, okay? I know it's hard sometimes, and I
DO succumb to that too, but I really, really try.
Notice how Ukyo didn't explain her real reasons for telling Ranma to
go after Akane? She cited that Akane was walking home alone, and Ranma
instantly reacted by exclaiming his concern for Akane - and then he realized
who he was talking to....and Ukyo's gaze was 'inscrutable and unreadable'.
In that moment, we know who really loves who, and we know who knows that
small, but important, fact. Sorry if it sounds a little ambiguous, but a
little close reading can do wonders.
