Of course we do.  The terms used are only abreviations of other words. 
The word FANFIC is self explanitory.  I mean, come ON, do you really
expect us to write Fan Fiction out every time?  What would you rather
have us use?  The words have been in use for some time now.  They're
easy to use.  Although some of us don't qualify as "Otaku", the words
that are used, are perfectly descriptive of what we do.  So if you don't
like the terms, ignore them.  If you  can't ignore them, well.....PPhhtt...to
bad.
