Seeing that the girl was Nabiki really surprised me. I thought surely
it would be Kasumi. Kasumi must have been pretty broken up, she was
pretty much Akane's de facto mother for most of Akane's life.

The only thing I would add is, where are all the other characters? I
would have expected Kuno to charge in blaming Ranma for what happened.
Not to mention all of Ranma's other would-be lovers. If you are
setting up for a Ranma-Nabiki romance, then it will be interesting to
see how Kodachi, Shampoo, and Ukyo react.
