Hey, Well I figured I'd respond to FFMLRFAAMO. Heres something I wrote
a LONG time ago and am thinking of continueing.

Think Loduss War or similar stories like Eddings.

C&C welcome (constructive read, flames trashed) as this is my first fic (in
English anways, even if you count school, and I don't).

	Darkness.

And from this darkness came a light. The birth of a star. A
special star; one never to be catalogued by man. The star groaned from
the pain of birth and the realisation that once again its task of
bareing witness is at hand. The star looked down and saw a small
hexagonal board, divided up into little chequered sections, floating in
space. A dark figure in a deep red hooded cloak stepped towards the
board. From the other direction a small delicate figure in a white
hooded cloak stepped forward to meet the other figure at the opposite
edge of the board.

"So," said the figure in red, "once again we find ourselves out
in the middle of nowhere playing Pawns. I would have thought even you,
the Spirit of Light, would tire of this game eventually."

The young girl removed the hood of her cloak. Her eyes flashed
into points of light.

"You can't trick her into playing another game you know. She
is innocent but she is not stupid," commented a detached male voice
comming from the girls lips.

"Wouldn't dream of it old boy. And an innocent you say? So you
want to be the one to set the rules this time. So be it."

"We play till one of my Pawns makes it to the other side of the
board and becomes a Queen." the voice continued.

"On the conditions that you must also be in possession of half
of the corners of the board and that I start on sun corner and you start
on moon corner."

"Done," was still echoing as the points of light left the girl's
eyes.

"Then let the board be set..."

Uri removed her helmet and held it to her side, letting her
long red hair drop to her waist. She straitened it up as she looked
down the road. It had been a long time. The young woman straightend
up in her saddle. The road into the forest was still where it had
always been but seem much older that the 10 years since she last
used it. A lock of red hair fell into her face with a sudden gust
of wind. She combed it back with her fingers as she thought about
what had brought her here.

Ten years ago an old man appeared at the door of her parent's
home. He was fairly well kept and had an air of mistery about him.
He told her parents that their daughter was being saught by Sun
priests and would kill her if they found her. Her parents were
terrifyed, the Sun priests were the most feared of all eight orders.
They asked why, but were told that the less they knew the safer they
were. They were told to move far away and never come back. And so
her parents left her with the one man who could possibly hide her,
the Seeker.

Seeker, not his real name obviously, had been living in the
nothern hills for generations. He'd just always been there. No one
knew where he came from or even how old he was. They did know that
he was very skilled in the mystic arts and had been so for a long time.

Seeker took the small eight year old back to his cottage and
began instructing her in the mystic arts.

One summer's day just after her tenth birthday, Uri was walking
through the forrest when she came across a small girl about her age who
was crying quite softly. She had light silver blond hair and pail skin,
with the exception of her feet which were stained with grass and mud.
Uri slowly walked up to her and tried to comfort her. The young girl
told her that she had been run out of her town and was living in the
forrest. Uri offered to take her home but the little girl refused,
saying that she couldn't. Puzzeled, Uri offered to at least bring her
some food. When she returned the girl was gone. When she got back home
she told Seeker what had happened, he seemed woried about something but
told her that he would look for her the next day. Seeker never spoke to
her about this again.

After Seeker's death Uri followed his last wishes, Seeker had
told her to collect his notes and deliver his last letter to the Moon
temple. The temple was just south of her old home from seven years
before. Uri decided to take his last letter there personally and then
settle in her old village. After packing her gear and some items she
thought she might need later, Uri locked the door to Seeker's house for
the last time. She checked the house and took one last look at Seeker,
who had been laid to rest in his bedroom as was the custom with his people.
He had been placed in a glass box on his bed. Uri said one more goodbye
and drew in energy from all around. She said,"Crystal" and relaxed her
will allowing the energy to shape the air around Seeker into a green
crystal. When she looked up she saw Seeker lying on his bed, the glass
box gone. It had been replaced by a green crystal casing that enveloped
the bed. Uri then turned around and walked away.

Uri was shaken from her memories by a column of smoke rising
from forest to the south. "The temple!" she thought "It must be in trouble".
In all her years she had never heard of smoke coming from the Moon temple.
Open fire was forbidden in the sorounding forest. She raced along the path
to find the familiar temple gone, and replaced by a charred, smouldering ruin.
At the base of the temple was a small man in a white robe facing towards her.

"Do you see what they've done? What they've done to my home?" the man
asked. "They came with torches saying that the moon was a symbol of evil and
that they must destroy it to protect the Sun palace. I'm not evil. Please
believe me."

"Please, I am sorry but I bring a last message from the mage, Seeker."

"What do you mean last message? Don't tell me the old fool finally
died." After composing himself the man looked around. Seeing that it was
safe he said "Please come with me."

"I'm sorry for that little display back there but we were probably
being watched." the old man explained as he guided her down a small seemingly
unused trail that lead to a small building. Once inside he explained, "I
wanted them to think that the temple had been destroyed. Now let us see that
message."

After handing him the letter Uri forced herself to ask a question
that had been nagging her. "You don't seem very worried about the temple.
You put on a good act back there but don't you care that the temple is gone?"

"Gone?," the man asked; looking up from the letter, "why my dear
you're in the real temple right now! That building out there was for show.
It was meant to protect the real temple from the what happened out there. It
will be a pain to rebuild though," he said thoughtfully.

"Now tell me young lady, how much do you know about the Sword of
Creation?" the small man asked with a smile.

"Well, it's been a long time since I've told any fairy tales, but
here goes: After everything had been created there was still a small bit of
matter and energy left over. So the gods took that matter and energy and formed
them into six gems and a sword. The sword had three gems embedded on either
side of the blade. It was created for the sole purpose of maintaining order
in creation. If anyone threatened the proper course of events, no matter
how powerful they were, they could be dealt with. The gods however did not
see the danger the very existence such a sword presented. It was not until
after the betrayal of Consult D'Ander that the gods realised what their
mistake had been. The gods took the sword and split it in two and removed
the gems. They hid these pieces in different parts of creation to prevent
any misuse, but kept them in existence in case they were ever needed."

"Not bad. I now have to ask you to leave certain beliefs aside for awhile."

The old man went over to a small trunk and rummaged inside mumbling to
himself and throwing curious objects behind him. "Ah," he finally said.
"Here it is." Picking himself up and pulling something from the trunk the
old man turned towards her. He was holding in his hands, half a sword that
had been cut in two down the edge of the blade. One side was smooth and the
other had three indents. He also removed a sheath and handed them both to
her. After examining the blade she sheathed it and turned to him again.

"This is half of the Sword of Creation. It is called the Sword of Time.
This is why the temple was destroyed. They were looking for this sword.
Our enemies from the Sun palace want this half of the sword for their own
purposes. Since you have had the training of a Walker I must ask you to take
this sword and deliver us from the evil of the Sun palace. I can give you
no help other than to give you a guide to the palace and tell you of this
half of the sword.

"The sword of time is able to transfer the life time of one person to
another. If you choose you can take some or all of the life of the person
struck by the sword. This is the greatest danger of the sword, it can
corrupt the good in every person. I can give no other advice than to never
use it unless you have to. The more gems there are imbedded in the blade
the more powerful it is. Please, I will now take you to a friend who will
guide you."

"Now wait just a second.." but it was too late. The old man was out the
door and on his way. Uri had no choice but to follow.
