[We hear birds singing, the day is sunny, and the sky is
clear. The Tendo Dojo looks peaceful. It is a Friday.]
Kasumi: Akane, did the mail man come yet?
Akane: Yes, Older Sister.
Kasumi: Was there any mail for me?
Akane: I don't remember, I think daddy has them.
Kasumi: Okay, thank you Akane. [leaves Akane's room]
[Kasumi goes to look for her father. Soun is sitting
outside reading his newspaper.]
Kasumi: Father, do you have the mail?
Soun: Why yes, here they are. [shows the stacks of mail on the
table]
Kasumi [taking the mail]: Thank you father, [looks
disappointed] Oh dear, still not here.
Soun: What's not here Kasumi?
Kasumi: Oh nothing father, I'll go make some snacks. [she walks
away]
Akane [goes over to Ranma]: Ranma, do you know why Older
Sister Kasumi is waiting for the mail for the last few days?
Ranma [lies down and puts his hands behind his head for
support] I don't know, why don't you ask her?
Akane: I did, but she wouldn't tell me.
Nabiki [entering] Maybe, she has a secret lover.
Akane: You know older sister, you might be right.
Ranma: Oh come on, she stays in the house all day, how can she
meet someone like that?
Nabiki: She does go to supermarkets.
Ranma: Yea, but only housewives go there.
Akane: And how do you know Ranma? You know, this is the nineties.
MEN go there too you know!
Nabiki: Well, it could be Dr. Tofu.
Akane [wondering]: Yes, it could be.
Ranma: Like he has the courage to . . .
Akane [gives her serious look to Ranma]: Ranma! . . . Forget it,
I'm not even going to bother.
Ranma: Geeze, you're in a bad mood today. Look, I know that
Kasumi is not seeing anyone.
Nabiki: Okay Ranma, since you're so sure, lets have a little
wager. If the mail she's waiting for is her boyfriend, you owe
me 5,000 yen; if not, we'll pay you.
Ranma: Fine by me, but if I bet with you, I will win but lose.
But I do want to prove myself that I am correct so . . .
Akane [ignoring Ranma, to Nabiki]: Older sister! What do you
mean we pay? If I'm not getting any money when we win, why
should I pay if we loose?
Nabiki: Okay, I'll give you 50% But the bet's doubled Ranma,
10,000 yen.
Ranma: I don't care, I'm right.
[Screen fades white. We still hear the birds singing
though.]
[Screen returns to normal, this time it is Monday.]
[Kasumi goes to the mail box and gets the mail. She
inspects all of them and a little look of excitement comes up.
Meanwhile, Akane, Nabiki, and Ranma are watching from Akane's
room.]
Akane: Look, I think Older sister Kasumi received her mail.
Nabiki: Lets go, Ranma. I hope you have that 10,000 yen you owe
us.
Ranma: Humph.
[Akane sees Kasumi putting the mail down on the dining room
table while she takes a overly stuffed envelope with her to her
room]
Akane: Hmmm, she took her mail with her.
Nabiki: Yea, she might want to read it you know; it is her mail.
No matter, we'll just knock on her door. [knocks on the door
with a little duck shaped sign that says, "Kasumi" on it]
Kasumi: Just a minute.
Nabiki: Can we come in?
Kasumi: Please hold on Nabiki.
[Kasumi takes the letter opener in her right hand and her
mail in the left hand. She carefully and slowly tears the top of
the envelope making a perfect line. She then takes the letter
out and reads it. She smiles; all of a sudden she suddenly
frowns and says, "Oh my." She quickly hides the mail and answers
the door.]
Kasumi: Yes?
Ranma: Hey big sister, could we come in and talk?
Kasumi: Sure.
[They all come in and sit on her bed.]
Akane: Older sister, did you get the mail today?
Kasumi: Yes.
Ranma: Well, did you get your mail?
Kasumi: What mail?
Ranma: The one you've been looking for all these weeks.
Kasumi: Oh, that. Yes.
Nabiki: Could we see it?
Kasumi [thinks for a minute]: Sure, why not. But don't tell
father yet.
Nabiki [ribs Ranma]: I knew it, it is from her fiancee or
something.
Kasumi: Here it is.
[Akane, Ranma, and Nabiki looks at it, there are all these
funny characters on the letter and the envelope.]
Nabiki: Hey, her boyfriend's a foreigner!
Kasumi: Huh?
Akane: What does it say on the return address? Ha.. Har vardu?
Harduvardu?
Nabiki: No, no, it says Harvard. Harvard?! Is this the
university in the US?
Kasumi: Yes, I was accepted as an international student.
Akane: Wow, you know English older sister?
Kasumi: Yes, I've been studying it for five years.
Ranma: What's Harvard? A foreign university?
Kasumi: Yes Ranma, one of the top schools in the World.
Ranma: Why did you apply there?
Kasumi: Well, I always wanted to go to college so I decided to
apply there.
Ranma: Is Harvard a man?
Kasumi: Excuse me?
Ranma: I guess not, Nabiki, Akane, 10,000 yen!
Akane [ignoring Ranma]: Wow, five years of English! You must
speak it very well.
Kasumi: Not really, my pronunciation is a little iffy.
Akane: Can you say something in English?
Kasumi [smiles]: Watashi wa Nihon-jin desu.
Akane: Wow, you sound so cool. Just like those Hollywood
movies. I wish I can sound good as that. That will impress my
English teacher.
Nabiki: What did you say? I am a Japanese?
Kasumi: That's right, Nabiki.
Ranma: Maybe you can tutor me in English, and maybe that Hinako
will give me some slack.
Akane: I'll tell father the good news.
Kasumi: No, don't. Father won't like this. You know how father
doesn't want to give us up, and if he finds out I'm going to
another country, he'll . . . he'll . . .
Ranma: Freak out?
Kasumi: Yes, thank you Ranma.
Nabiki: Oh come on older sister, daddy will be proud of you.
Beside, he'll realize you're old enough. I mean your 19 now;
you're no longer his little daughter.
Kasumi: But . . .
Nabiki: Kasumi, don't worry. It'll be fine.
Kasumi: Yes, I guess so. Tha.. I mean doomo arigatoo Nabiki.
[gives a smile]
Nabiki: Wait, I know how to respond to this one. Ummm . . . Doo
itashimaste. [smiles back]
Ranma: Nabiki, my money, I won the bet.
Kasumi: Ranma, it isn't nice to gamble.
Ranma: Sorry, Kasumi. [to Nabiki] I'll be expecting that money
soon.
Akane: So, when are you going to tell father?
Kasumi: I think I shall tell him right now.
[The three Tendo sisters and Ranma go to the back porch
where Genma and Soun are playing goh.]
Soun [putting a black goh stone on a square]: Now I've got
you.
Genma [looks up to the clear blue sky]: You know Tendo, this
is really a nice day. [puts a goh stone down]
Soun: It is Saotome, it is. Nothing can go wrong. [thinks for
a moment and puts another goh stone]
Kasumi: Father,
Soun: Ah, hello Kasumi, is there something you want to tell me?
Kasumi: Why yes father, I received some very good news.
Soun: See, Saotome? Nothing can go wrong in this beautiful day.
Genma: You said it Tendo. Got ya [puts a goh stone down. It
looks like Genma's getting the advantage]
Soun: So Kasumi, what is the good news?
Kasumi: I've been accepted into Harvard University.
Soun: Congratulations, Kasumi.
Genma: My Tendo, you should be proud. Not only you have three
great daughters. But one of them is going to college, but still
be around to help around the house. I envy you Tendo.
Soun: Ha ha. I'm lucky to have a such a wonderful daughter.
Akane [angrily]: What about us dad?!
Soun [frightened]: Oh you too Akane, Nabiki.
Kasumi: Um, father, the college I'm going to is in America.
Soun: That's very nice . . . [realizes something] What?
Kasumi [smiles]: That's right father, I'm going to study to be
a doctor there.
Genma: Well Tendo, you are certainly lucky. Ha ha ha.
Soun: But, what about the house? Who is going to cook, clean?
Akane: Don't worry, I'll cook for you.
Soun [horrified]: Are you SURE you want to go to College?
Kasumi: I'm very sure father, I've been dreaming this for a long
time.
Soun: What? What about the cost? How are we going to pay for
it?
Kasumi: Oh, I applied for a full scholarship, and they excepted
me. So money won't be a problem.
Soun: Of course, Kasumi, but you can't leave me! [begs on his
knees]
Kasumi: Don't be silly father, I'm not leaving you. I'll be
coming back in six or seven years. Meanwhile, I'll visit and
write.
Soun: Six years?! Please Kasumi, why not go to a local college
here in Nerima?
Kasumi: Father, I'm not a little girl anymore, I can take care
of myself, you do not need to worry.
Nabiki [to Akane]: Yea, but who can take care of daddy?
Soun: You are always my little girl. Please, don't leave home.
Kasumi: Really father, aren't you overreacting?
[All of a sudden someone's at the door.]
Nabiki [looks around and sees Soun begging and crying to
Kasumi, Kasumi worried, Ranma and Akane standing there, and
Genma rearranging the goh pieces]: Woah, don't all go to the
door at once. [looks again, same things are happening] Never mind,
I'll get it. If it's some guy that says we won ten billion yens,
I'm going to keep it all! Of course, I'll keep it all anyway.
[Nabiki strolls to the door and opens it.]
[Back to the other guys]
Akane: Come on dad, Kasumi was waiting a long time for this. I
think you should give her a break.
Soun: But our house will fall apart if she leaves.
Kasumi: Oh father, father, father, father.
Nabiki [OS]: Hello, Mrs. Saotome.
Ranma & Genma: Huh!? [jumps into the pond]
Nadoka [entering]: Hello, everyone. Why, why is Mr. Tendo so
sad?
Nabiki: Oh daddy is just upset that Kasumi is going to Harvard.
Nadoka: My, why would he be so upset?
Nabiki: Daddy is afraid if Kasumi leaves, we won't be able to
take care of the house.
Nadoka: Well, what a silly thought.
Nabiki: I don't think so, Older Sister Kasumi DOES do everything
around the house.
Nadoka: Really? What about you two girls?
Nabiki: Um . . . er . . .
Akane [excited]: I can cook Mrs. Saotome!
Nabiki: Like I said, Kasumi does everything. If she didn't
we'll be all dead by food poisoning or worse, mutated into some
hideous creature.
Akane: Big Sister!
Nadoka [thinks for a minute]: Well, if it makes you feel any
better, I was going to visit for a few days. But if you really
need someone, I can stay as long as can, or I can move in. That
way, the house work can be taken care of while dear Kasumi can go
to her University.
Kasumi: Oh, you can do that Mrs. Saotome?
Nadoka: Why yes. Anyway, where is that husband of mine?
Akane: Well, um they had to go to Okinawa to train.
Nadoka: My, always training. Are they never here? I was hoping
to see them today. Oh well.
Akane [shrinking]: Well . . . they visit once in a while.
Nadoka: Well, if I stay, I might be able to meet them one time.
Ranko [dripping wet]: Aunti Saotome! Welcome back!
Nadoka: Why Ranko, nice to see you again. Why are you all wet?
Ranko: Oh, me an po.. Mister Panda and I were playing around
till we accidentally fell in.
[All of a sudden, Genma pulls Ranko away to a safe place]
Ranko: Hey, what are you doing?!
[Genma drags Ranma to a safe place where Nadoka can't see
them and writes a note on a sign that says, "Did you hear what
she said boy?" (Turns the sign over.) "She is going to stay
here forever!! We . . . " (scribbles more) "We can't do that,
she'll find out about us. (turns the sign over again) "We must
let Rasumi stay!"]
Ranko: Rasumi?
[Furiously, Genma scribbles, "Kasumi, Kasumi!! Not
Rasumi!!!"]
Ranko: Look Pop, we have to. I mean, Older Sister Kasumi helped
us many times. We have to do something to help her.
Genma [holds a sign]: "Want to stay as a girl for seven years?"
Ranko: No, but . . . [thinks for a minute] Hey, I have a novel idea,
why not tell mom the truth?
Genma [surprised]: "You crazy???!!!!! Remember that certain
ritual?"
Ranko: Yea, but if I come to her and tell it to her like a man,
she'll probably forget about it.
Genma [Thinks for a moment]" "No, we can't risk that!"
Ranko: Whatever Pop, I'm going to tell her right now.
Genma: "If you do, I'll show Akane those pictures."
Ranko: What pictures?
Genma: "You know . . ."
Ranko: Grr . . . ok fine. But I don't like this. Kasumi was . . .
[grumbling] You and your stupid promise.
***** Ranma 1/2 Eyecatch. (It is a collage of various pictures
from the OAV with some funky music in the background)*****
[It is night time. Ranko goes to Kasumi's door and knocks.]
Kasumi [opens the door]: Yes?
Ranko: Can I talk to you for a sec?
Kasumi: Sure Ranma, what can I do for you?
Ranko: Older sister, I know this may sound bad, but . . . me and
dad can't let you go to Harvard. I know how much going to
that University means to you, but you know the problem with my
mother and me and my curse and . . .
Kasumi [gives a faint grin]: I understand. I'm sorry about the
problems I got you and Mr. Saotome into. I'll . . . I'll stay if I must.
Ranko: You will? Thank you, but . . . What about your dreams? Was
becoming a doctor one of your dreams?
Kasumi [smiles]: That's okay, my problem does not involve my
life like yours.
Ranko: Cool, thanks for understanding, Kasumi. Good night.
[starts towards the door. All of a sudden Ranma turns around]
Maybe . . . maybe you can finally tutor me in English then. Ms. Ninomiya
is always on my case.
Kasumi: Yes . . . yes, I can . . . [smiles] Oyasumi nasai. That means
"good night."
Ranko: Heh, Oyasume nssau. [shakes head and nervously grins] I
told you I needed a tutor.
Kasumi [smiles]: Close enough Ranma.
[Ranma leaves and Kasumi sits on her bed. A few seconds
later, a lone tear flows down Kasumi's chin.]
[Ranma goes into his room. Ranma is obviously disgusted at
what he did. The panda sleeps on the ground snoring loudly,
Ranma curses at it and goes to sleep.]
[Next morning: Everybody are at the dining room table and
eating breakfast.]
Nabiki [whispering to Ranma]: Hey Ranma, remember that 10,000
yen I owe you? Well, if you pay me 20,000 yen, I'll keep my
mouth shut about you being cursed when your mother is around.
Ranko: 20,000 yen?!
Nadoka: What's 20,000 yen Ranko?
Ranko [nervously]: Oh, this blouse I saw at a store last week.
I asked Nabiki to go check how much it was yesterday.
Nabiki [to Ranma]: Don't worry, I'll let you pay only 10,000
yen. The other half is the bet you won from me.
Nadoka [to Kasumi]: So Kasumi, when are you leaving to Harvard?
Kasumi [quietly]: I'm . . . I'm not going there I decided.
[Soun looks relieved, Genma looks very happy, Akane and
Nadoka are surprised, Ranma looks down guilty, and Nabiki drinks
her miso soup.]
Nadoka: Why . . . why did you decide not to go there? Harvard is a
very good school.
Kasumi: I know Mrs. Saotome, but I needed to help someone.
Soun: Kasumi, so you decided to stay because of me?
Kasumi: Yes, father, but this was also for someone else . . . who
really needs me.
Nadoka: Well, as long as you know what you're doing Kasumi.
[pauses] Well, I'll was about to get my things to stay, but I
guess I'll won't be needing them. I guess I can head home
tomorrow.
Nabiki: Oh leaving so soon?
Nadoka: Yes, I came hoping to see my son again. It has been a
long time. I miss him, I hope Genma is developing my son into a
healthy, honest, brave, manly man like he said he would.
Ranko [thinking]: Brave? Yeah right. Honest? Yeah right. I guess
I'm not the man I thought I was.
Nadoka: Why, what's wrong Ranko? Is something the matter?
Ranko: I . . . I . . mot . . .
Nadoka: What?
[Ranma looks at Genma, and Genma is making signs not to do
it; he pantomimes pictures.]
Ranko [looks at Kasumi, Nabiki, Akane, Soun, and Nadoka] I
mean, you remind me of my mother. She died a long time ago, I . . .
I miss her too. I'm just sad that you're leaving so soon.
Nadoka: Why Ranko, I didn't know that you mother died. If you
like, I'll stay a couple more days to keep you company.
[Genma faints.]
Ranko: Thank you Aunti Saotome . . .
[Later in the day, Ranma and Genma are out in the fields
lying down in the grass.]
Genma: You know boy, you really did it this time. Why did you
make your mother stay longer?
Ranma: I miss her. I want her to see me in my true form. I
miss her hugging me as her son, not some distant friend or
relative.
Genma: Well, at least she isn't staying for seven years. And
you better not tell her about us boy.
Ranma: Didn't you hear what she said?! You're suppose to raise
me as honest, brave, and manly. Honest? We are lying to her
right now! Brave? We don't have enough courage to tell her
the truth. Manly? Thanks to your training methods! I'm only
half manly!
Genma: Hey, it character building.
Ranma: Well, I guess I can't do anything now. [gets up] I'm
going.
Genma: Where are you going boy?
Ranma: I don't know, but I need to think.
[Back at the Tendo dojo.]
Kasumi: Sigh, all those hard work, gone to waste. [puts away
the English book. She holds up the acceptance ticket] I guess
I don't need this. [looks for a match but can't find any in her
room] I wonder if father has some.
Soun: Matches? what are you going to do with matches?
Kasumi: I'm . . . I'm going to burn my ticket to Harvard.
Soun: Look Kasumi, I'm really sorry about this. But you know
how much we need you. We can't have Mrs. Saotome here, for Ranma
and Mr. Tendo's sake. And besides, letting Mrs. Saotome do all
your work is asking too much.
Kasumi: I know, father.
Soun: Why not keep your ticket? Keep it for a memory or
something.
Kasumi [smiles]: You're right father, I should.
[The next day]
Nadoka: Has anyone seen Ranko? She's been gone all night.
Nabiki: Nope, never seen him.. Her, I mean her.
Nadoka: Maybe Mr. Panda will know. Wake up Mr. Panda . . . Wake
up Mr. Panda. (Gently shakes Genma.)
[Genma slowly opens his eyes and slowly gets up and makes his
noise.]
Nadoka: Mr. Panda, can you lead us to your mistress, Ranko? Do
you know where she is?
[Genma just sits there, rolls on his back, and plays with a
tire.]
Nabiki: Well, that didn't work.
Kasumi: Breakfast everyone!
[All the humans go into the dining room to eat. While
they're eating, Ranma suddenly comes into the house.]
Ranko: Aunti Saotome, how long are you staying?
Nadoka: Ranko, where have you been?
Ranko: Mrs. Saotome, how long are you staying?
Nadoka: Well . . . how . . . how long do you want me to stay Ranko?
Ranko: Well, I've been doing some thinking, and I found
out that you can leave anytime you want to.
Nadoka: Why? I thought you needed me for company. After all,
you mother's misfortune . . .
Ranko: I accepted my mother's death now, I realize I can't hold
on to my memory forever. Thanks for the help Mrs. Saotome. [to
Kasumi] Big sister, you can go to Harvard.
Kasumi: But Ranko, how?
Ranko: Don't worry, I'll take care of everything: the cooking,
cleaning everything.
Kasumi: Are you sure you can handle them Ranko?
Ranko: Yup, I mean, I can cook better than Akane can I?
Akane: What?!
Nadoka: Well, I'm surprised. Ranko, you're really maturing to a
fine, young woman. Someday, you'll make a good wife.
Ranko: Heh, heh eh.
[Night time. Kasumi knocks at Ranma's door]
Ranko: Come in,
Kasumi [entering]: Ranma, you didn't have to do that this
morning. I don't have to go to Harvard.
Ranko: Yeah, but I needed to prove myself that I am a man.
Certainly not this way, but at least I'm doing something for a
close friend. You've been like a sister and a mother to me.
You helped me many times before. But this time, it's time for
me to be a man, like my mother said.
Kasumi: Ranma, thank you. But doing womanly thing is not exactly a
good method of becoming a man. Are you sure you want to do this?
Ranko: I'm very sure. I can get Nabiki or Akane to help me if I
make them but yes, I think can handle it . . .
Kasumi [smiles] Thanks you Ranma.
Ranko: No, thank you Older Sister, for helping me all those
years. Now go to Harvard and be the best doctor ever.
[Kasumi gives Ranma a loving hug. Two months later, we see Kasumi
leaving. Akane, Nabiki, Ranma (girl), Soun, Nadoka, and Genma (panda)
are at the airport to see Kasumi leave. Kasumi gives everybody goodbye
hugs, and leaves carrying a small bag. Soun is crying, Genma is avoiding
children who wants to pet him, Akane waves goodbye, Nadoka looks
happy, Nabiki checks out a rich looking person, and Ranma is proud of
himself.]
Ranma [thinks]: Ulp, what have I got myself into?

Author's notes:
Well, once again a fanfic by Bile Studios. It is a wonder since
no one reads them, that I should write any.
Anyway, here's some notes: The Japanese parts in the beginning
and the end are songs. They are sung in Japanese! Wow! I bet you
didn't know that! Also, for those of you who don't get it, when
Kasumi and others speaks "English" it's in Japanese in the
fanfic. Anyway, this is not my best fanfic IMO. Heck, it's not
even my good fanfic. I liked it when I was writing it. I don't care
if you don't. Oh, for the Opening and Ending Themes, listen to the
DoCo First C-D (or tape or record or 8-track. The Opening theme is
track 4 I think and the ending theme, my all time favorite Ranma song,
is track #6 I think. Oh I wrote this before Nadoka figured out that
Ranma and Ranko were the same person, so don't flame me for that.
