Actually the story reminds me of Raistlin Majere.  The simalarities are
uncanny.  Both are weak, coughs a lot, smart, and has a brother/sister
that protects him.  But the only difference is that Ranma is a nice
person and has no ambitions to become a god.
Double hmmm.......

Actually, you might want to start on Dragons of Autumn Twighlight.  It
gives a pretty good introduction to Raistlin.  I've been thinking about
this for a while, that if the Dragonlance books became a movie, it should
be an anime.  Do you agree?

I would love to see a big budget live action movie of the Legends trilogy
(That's the one after Chronicles, and is mainly about Raistlin.)  Or, if you
could get a good goth shojo studio like CLAMP to do the manga, then I would
love to see that.  To me, Chronicles and Legends are to fantasy what Star
Wars is to Science Fiction.  Yes, 'The Hobbit' was good, and I enjoy reading
Forgotten Realms, but nothing has captured my imagination like the two main
trilogies in DragonLance.

<Prepare for short dissertation on Raistlin.  If you don't know who Raistlin
is, you really wouldn't understand this part.  If you do know who Raistlin
is, and you think he's a wuss, you are obviously a complete moron who
doesn't know anything.  But that is just my opinion, and you are entitled to
your own, and I really don't mean any harm by that statement, it's really a
joke.  Please don't be offended by it.  Now to close this with one thing
everyone should know.  Raistlin _IS_ a God.>


Raistlin is the man.  Yes, he took the Black Robes, and yes, he seduced the
Daughter of Paladine, and yes he did a whole lot of other bad things.  But
he was still one of the good guys, and he has always been one of my favorite
heros, not just from the fantasy genre, but out of everything that I read or
see.  You have to really respect him cause he's got brass(Any remarks about
skin color will be ignored...).  He stood up to everyone, and became the
greatest mage in the world.  He beat the Master of the Past and Present, and
has more then enough power to defeat the Queen of Darkness, one of the three
most powerful Old Gods.  He's not evil, just self-serving.  He's tired of
being thought of as a wimp, and he doesn't want to have to rely on his
brother anymore.  Raistlin isn't compassionate, and he isn't a nice person,
but he doesn't hide that.

(My vote is to give CLAMP total creative control.) on the list, mail me
