I first encountered OneShot's work a long time ago, and I've fallen in love
with it ever since.  There's a reason why his one shots work better than
most long stories, and that's because he takes aspects of these characters and
instead of just harping on them over and over, he explores them in new and 
different ways.  In fact, with the exception of the main characters, there
are no other regular Ranma characters that appear in his 'fics.  In this particular
one, he takes ol' money grubbing Nabiki and turns her into a sympathetic characer.
Strangely, this wouldn't work on any other day, but her birthday, and I have
a feeling that Jeff is aware of this all too well.  There's that beginning part
where she's complaining about losing all that money that is 'typical Nabiki'
but he puts the twist on by introdoucing the little girl.  And that, my
friends, is how to do characterization.
