Hi all,
*smiles* Been watching/reading the two sides.. or should that be three? Go at
it about language(s) in the world.. some people being rather.. *ahem* Ignorant
about some cultures... to those, I suggest learning more before saying things
about them.
"It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all
doubt."
I won't comment on the language discussion itself because to me, the point is
moot. I honestly don't care at this point in time whether it was because of
evolution, God, Demonic forces, Aliens, or because someone is dreaming our
reality. :p
But I find the discussions rather interesting, albeit... horribly mis-informed
in some areas.
My example? The chinese language. First of all, it isn't one language, but a
grouping of over 50 seperate dialects, each of which have differences in both
tonal, grammatical, and syntactical differnces.
Secondly, if anyone thinks that the Chinese language is simple, I'd strongly
suggest they TRY to learn it. And I suggest Mandarin for those who want it
easier. With only 4 tonal inflections per sound per variation per character
per use, it should be somewhat easier than say.. Cantonese which has 6 tonal
inflections per.
And no, the words in chinese are not mono-syllibic(sp?). Each character is
composed of so-called radicals as those sub-characters adversely and subtly
alter the meaning of each character as well as characters grouped with that
one. The sounds assigned to one character are rarely mono-syllybic, and there
is rarely ever one sound set assigned. Most characters have anywhere from 2-10
assigned sounds and "relative" meanings assigned to them. Their total meaning
and final sound produced depending on their use and on the characters they are
grouped or paired with. And of course, whether you are using the informal
spoken part of the language, or the poetic formal written part of the
language.
This from someone, myself, who is only slightly familiar with the language.
For references to any languages, please research before commenting your
opinions about them. ALL languages are unique and complex in their own sense,
whether WE understand the reasons or not.
The reasons for complexity in each language are varied and depends upon the
conditions of the time. How can anyone blatently say that it was either
evolution or an act of God? *sighs* Perspective is very important. I don't
claim that my perspective is the right one, but if anyone discusses things,
they should keep the perspectives of each relevant group in mind.
<*>Odd how God's healing is limited to cases where spontaneous remission
<*>can happen, or where it's possible to imagine that things got better. God
<*>never, for instance, regrows lost arms.
<*>
<*>Besides, what if it was magic cast by some trickster entity who does it
<*>because he gets great fun out of watching people get the attribution wrong?
Quit true. As I recall, *smiles*, Demons were once angels.. so saying, they
have the power of angels as well. There is no reason why Demons wouldn't heal
a human being.. if it would *ahem* in some views, further the corruption of
the belief in god.
Wing.
