2) In chapter three this piece, Akane has the power to make mallets out
of thin air and then dissolve them. Did you make this up, or is it from
some of the infinitely many manga I haven't read?

Well, it certainly seems that way some times...

Mind you, most characters have gotten some object or other seemingly 
out of nowhere at some point.  Most notably:

Akane: the aforementioned mallets.

Ranma: Mallets, kettles of nice, steaming hot water.

Genma: Signs.

Ukyou: The number and position of the mini-spatulas in the bandolier 
can be seen to change without any readily apparent reason. 
(Apparently these things can multiply in mid-air, too.  At one point 
during Ukyou's first appearance, she throws four spatulas, but seven 
land.  I don't really wanna know.  The moral of the story is: don't 
ask what your spatulas do after you throw them. :)
