Well, what got "snipped" was comments on the likelihood of Ryouga
and Ukyou...Zen said that there wasn't any basis for the possibility for
Ryouga and Ukyou getting together. Well, perhaps not--but what was meant,
I believe, is that it _is_ possible, given enough character development
and interaction in a good fic.
	_Exactly!_
	Thankyew! :)

If you sit down and think about it, quite literally any matchup is
_possible_ geven enough buildup and character development (on top of that,
Ryoga/Ukyo is the most likely and workable of the traditional 'Get The
Rivals Out Of The Way' matchups).
And besides, they just look so _great_ together. ^_^

My main problem is the common belief that these relationships are
inherently the most viable/likely ones (esp. in the case of
Shampoo/Mousse and Nabiki/Tatewaki) and resultant overuse of them. These
I find the forcing of those two to be slightly different from each
other. The problem with Shampoo and Mousse is that people tend to use the
cliche of having Mousse beat Shampoo in a fight, and then have it revealed
that Shampoo was in love with Mousse already. Or something like that....
As for Nabiki and Kunou, they just don't seem to like each other at all,
mostly, and only deal with each other--to deal with each other. Nabiki's
love for the coin doesn't match her feelings for Kunou. I'm inclined to
believe that she values intelligence in a mate as well. In that, Kunou
seems to be a poor choice...unless, through all that thick verse and
unintelligible prose, there do lie some buried smarts that have been
suppressed by the almight male hormone overload of adolescence.

matchups can be (and once in a blue moon _have_ been) done well, but too
much of Ranma fandom have gotten to the point where they would rather find
some way to shoehorn the pairs mentioned above together at all costs
rather than think of other matchups that may be more workable (ie Taro and
Nabiki?).
I'm working on pulling those pairs together (well, I'm not sure
about Kunou and Nabs) believably. It's gonna be hard, I know, but I think
I've got some good ideas.
