Why not just use the original Sam Beckett? BENARES wrote a Quantum Leap
Ranma 1/2 crossover (Ranma 1/2: A Leap and a Half), but I don't think
anyone's used the idea with other series. You'd have to explain it a
little for some series ("How did I end up in 2032 MegaTokyo?") but it

Actually, Sam can only travel in his *own* lifetime, so that would
restrict what animes Dr. Beckett can go to. It would actually be better to
have a person farther into the future than Sam, maybe Sam's son, or even
daughter!

could work. Bad idea coming up:

Kasumi stared at the foreigner who had appeared in a flash of light and
replaced Ranma, while Sam stared at the tall Japanese woman, realizing
something.

"She can see me!" "Where'd Ranma go?"
"Oh boy." "Oh my."
"Oh boy." "Oh my."..............

"Oh boy." "Oh my."

Battle of the "Oh boy!/Oh my!" catchphrases!

Dr. Beckett's little cigar chompin' holographic friend, whose name
currently eludes me, would certainly have a field day with all the "bouncy"
ladies in Ranmaverse!

On the other hand, if you don't know enough about Quantum Leap to use
him, make up your own character. Either way, just write it.
