First of all, let me add my two cents.  

Though the original work was never intended to cross that
border between "dark" fiction, you have to admit that there's a
lot of potential for it.  I think that we'd be fools if we didn't admit
that sometimes we think about the unthinkable: death, rape,
beastiality, mass murder, suicide.  I think that it's rather normal
to think about these things, provided that we didn't let them overwhelm
us and take over our minds.

Having said that, I also think that some kind of warning is necessary.
I mean, everyone here has either heard of "Bitter End" or has read
it.  There are some wonderful moments in that story believe it or not, and
some of it was disturbing.  If Zen didn't slap on a "serious content"
warning,
then a lot more people would have felt angry at the end of that fic.  (As
if
the title wasn't foreshadowing enough.)
