I've been working on one longer story, with the working title of `Black Dog'
which I posted the first 100K a while ago. Since then, I've written another
60K or so, but I have a number of Japanese cultural points I'm stuck on
In my fanfic I have a point where Ranma avoids morning class, returns at
lunch, is confronted by the teacher, gives her a misleading, but true answer,
and the matter is dropped.
Would Ranma mislead a teacher (assuming he was bright enough to pull it off)
or would he feel he was behaving dishonorably? Would he feel it necessary to
hoist buckets in the hall, for willfully evading school, even though he can
rationalize it away as the only right thing to do? Would the teachers even
notice, or would it be the responsibility of the students cleaning up and
recording the events of the day after class?
In my fanfic, I also have a point where Nodoka tries to settle the fiancee
fiasco once and for all. It's different from the previous ones I've read
here. Different enough that I'm not sure that such a result would be possible
given Ranma's and Nodoka's beliefs in honor. Is there anyone here, preferrably
someone who was immersed in the culture, who'd be willing to read a 7K long
scene, and tell me why only a crazy westerner could come up with it?
If you reply directly to me, it'll cut down on spam. If oyu think others
would be interested in whether Ranma would mislead a teacher, answer to the
list. I'll get it either way. Anyone willing to hash over my 7K long piece of
text, please respond soon, as it's holding up the next few bits.
