Thats funny, I tried to do the same thing, and ended up the same
way. I meant to make it Zork-ish, but it ended up 'Choose your Own
Adventure". Anyway, mine was programmed in PASCAL, the language i'm
most familar with. I'm not too hot with BASIC, but I"m learning C++
soon so, it shouldn't matter. :)
If you want to write an adventure game in the Infocom style, I would recommend
a language called Inform. You can get it from ftp://ftp.gmd.de/if-archive, as
well as other games for Inform.
Note that I haven't specified what platform you need. That's cos no matter
what computer you're using to connect to the net, the chances are you'll find a
version of Inform that works ^_^
