For what it's worth, everyone in Ranma 1/2 has different ways of being
violent, even the girls to Ranma. When Shampoo gets mad at Ranma, she turns
into a cat and scares the bejeezus out of him. Ukyo has actually thrown
spatulas at him (like when Nodoka asks him to give that "ring" to Akane), and
Kodachi... well, nothing's too dirty for her.

Face it, Takahashi's comics use violence for humor. But then, so does Bugs
Bunny. It's just one of those things. I've noticed that Akane's violence seems
to get old more quickly in fanfic than in the comics themselves. Maybe it's
the added visual element that keeps it interesting? Or maybe it's just that
she usually seems to have so little provocation in a lot of fanfics?

As far as I can tell, there have only been a few times when a character hasn't
recovered immediately (comically) from violence, and those are mostly at the
beginning of the series when the tone was slightly more serious. It is just a
cartoon, after all.
