Ah yes, I'm bored. Last night while trying to write a new Ranma lemon,
finish a chapter to the some three alternate realities I have, this came
to me in a caffiene induced high. Unfortunately, nothing unusual happens
until the next chapter.

So El Hazard fans UNITE! And let us brush away Ranma 1/2 as the dominant
series of fanfiction ;)

Comments as usual are worshipped. And I will respond

El Hazard: The Nth Night.
by Michael Chen (Zenki)

El Hazard is a very cool anime. A cool anime with a decent dub,
which is very good for me as I didn't waste as much money as
buying a $30 sub that was probably made with a $1000 dollar
machine rather than a $20 dub that required a studio and a cast
of actors. (I am still crying over the cost of Tenchi Muyo OAV's...)

Chapter 1

The royal palace at Floristica was unusually calm that
morning. There was none of the usual screaming, no sounds of
Princess Fatora bitching over something minor, no sounds of the
visiting priestesses of Muldoon running away from Alielle and
Fatora, no sounds of Masimichi trying to fight off Miz. It was
pure silence.

The small detachment of guards in front of the North Tower
sighed as they quickly discovered that perhaps it was nice to
have a little chaotic activity. It definitely made the time pass
by a lot quicker. Motionless they stood, resolute, like chiseled
out of stone those men stood until they saw the most queer thing.

Looking out at the pristine courtyard, they saw a sullen
Princess Fatora walk slowly to the Great Hall. The officer on
duty smartly acknowledged the Princess by banging the base of his
bolt staff on the ground and standing stiff. The Princess merely
smiled at him and waved her hand to indicate him to stand at
ease.

This was definitely weird, as the officer had expected Fatora
to stop in her tracks, turn around, and give him an oral deluge
for standing in such a slovenly way. There was no question, in
Fatora's presence, everything was suppressed, even Princess Rune
herself.

"Um, My Lady, is there anything wrong to day?" The guard
quickly asked, putting his fear of her to the side.

The Princess pulled on her tight collar and cleared her
throat. "No nothing at all, I'm just feeling a little
different." Her voice was a bit suspiciously low at first, but
as she spoke, her voice rose quickly to match her normal voice.
"Carry on, you're doing well."

The guards stood mouths gaping wide as they watched the
Princess enter the Great Hall. Through these men's mind, they
thought of the possibility. Perhaps, Fatora had a head injury.
Maybe she was beginning to settle down. There were many
hypothesis, but the one thing certain was that she had definitely
changed in attitude.

Her Royal Highness, Ruler of Roshtaria, Princess Rune Venus
was seated on her throne as usual. Next to her throne was the
seat of the second in command of the entire kingdom, her sister.
The door opened wide, and immediately, Rune's face turned
downcast as she saw her moody sister walk in.

Of course, she too noticed a difference. This Fatora walked
in, her shoulders not as proud as they should be, her head
directed downwards slightly, and without a word she assumed her
place next to Rune.

Rune looked at her sister. "Are you feeling fine? You don't
have to judge the criminals if you don't want to." Fatora nodded
her head.

"Don't worry, Your Highness, I'm perfectly fine." Fatora
answered, her voice seeming a low sing-song. Rune stared at her
little sister, one whom she had groomed since a young age. She
knew every little detail about her little sister, and someting
just felt weird.

"You don't have to call me 'Your Highness.' We are both
equal. I'd rather have you call me by my name or 'sister.'"
Rune shook her pretty head and stared at the gate. "Anyhow, get
ready for the wild bunch. Lanz, bring in the defendents."

The Captain of the Guard signaled, and in came a detachment
of guards escorting five men, each shackled and bound in
manacles. Lanz grabbed the first man and pushed him forwards.
He spoke to the man. "State your name for her Highness, and tell
her why you are here."

The man looked indignantly as he pulled his arm away from
Lanz. He looked at the Princesses on the thrones and bowed
quickly. "My name is Weston. (* He is an actor who likes to
portray poor downtrodden people, and he's good at it. Fans of
his works recognize his staring role in Ultima VII: The Black
Gate, a production from Origin) And I am here for stealing from
the Royal Orchard. Your Highnesses. All that I ask is for some
mercy."

Princess Rune felt a sympathy for him, but she knew that the
law was blind and created equal. No matter the circumstances a
deviance from the law was to invite chaos and the ending of
peace. She took a deep breath. "Your politeness will be noted,
and I have decided to mitigate the sentence. You will be kept in
the Dungeons for a year instead of two years."

Rune signaled to the guards, who then unchained him from the
line and dragged him away. Fatora's face immediately pained as
she saw the man struggle like he was fighting for his life. "But
I beseech you! I must feed my children, I was only doing this
for my children! I don't have a job, I was desperate." He raved
on and on.

Fatora clenched her fists hard and called out calm, without
the slightest contempt. "I overrule." Everyone in the room
froze, staring at Fatora who stood up. "I can not call this
justice. This man was doing a noble thing to nurture his family,
and we have no right to punish him for his humanity."

Rune looked at her sister, who without the slightest
repugnance or fear, left the dais and walked to Weston. With a
sweep of her hand, the guards moved away. "Perhaps, all that
Weston needs is a light punishment and a little help." Weston
had heard of Fatora's evil attitude, but this was totally
unexpected. Princess Fatora was all that lay between his
salvation and his doom.

"I'm forever in your debt! How can I..." Weston practically
worshipped as Fatora signalled the chains to be removed.

"Come with me, I'm sure we can keep you in here for three
months and have some money sent to your family. Afterwards,
perhaps we can help you find a job." As Fatora walked out of the
room, leaving three other desperate defendants who looked sad as
the two walked out.

Sometime later, Princess Rune, who walked serenely in the
courtyard, admiring the lush plant growth, came upon her sister,
who was seemingly staring at the fountain, lost in thought. "So,
Fatora, what was going through your mind? I've never thought
you'd be capable of so much compassion."

"Nothing. I felt sorry for that person. I just couldn't let
him suffer for trying to help his children." Fatora sighed as
she leaned back on the chair, resting her head. "God, I've never
been so tired in my life. I must have done so much work today."

Rune smiled. She liked this new side of Fatora, not
imperative, not haughty. "Well, you never bothered to concern
yourself with the work before." Rune looked around. "The palace
is so quiet. Miz took Fujisawa out. Nanami and Alielle went
out." A look passed over her face. "That's strange. I haven't
seen Makoto at all. He's usually in the library or with Dr.
Stolboug."

Fatora looked at the sun, just as the sound of the evening
bell rang out. She sort of looked surprised. "Makoto? I
haven't seen him at all. Well, I'm going to clean up before
dinner."

Standing up, she made a quick, if not maidenly retreat.
Dashing up the great, ivory white stairs, the princess hurried as
fast as she could, and ran into her room. "About time. I must
have been here for eternity waiting for such a slow poke like
you!"

Princess Fatora was seated on her bed with Alielle seated
next to her. "Well, did you let loose the secret." Makoto
sighed as he felt his throat a little sore. Sure enough, Makoto
had gotten enough practice to perfectly imitate Fatora's voice.
This was a boon for Fatora as Fatora happened to be the type who
hated duty, and Makoto was the type to stick to duty.

"No," answered Makoto in his normal voice. "I kept our
secret very well." Fatora grabbed Makoto's clothing from nowhere
and tossed it at him.

"Will there, about time those grubby clothes got out of the
drawer." Makoto sighed unceremoniously, and he grabbed the
clothing.

He made as if to remove the clothes, but neither girl
bothered to turn away. He hissed at them. "Do you mind? Could
you two turn away?" Fatora only smiled evilly at Makoto, trying
to see how far she could push him. Alielle giggled as she turned
around.

"It doesn't bother us. At least, I know it won't bother me."
Fatora smirked as Alielle giggled.

Grumbling aloud, Makoto found some cover behind a screen, and
he quickly changed into his typical clothes.

* * *

If the entire day was hectic, dinner time was totally off the
wall. It seemed that the meek and mild Princess Fatora had
reverted to her normal self. Fatora tore into her food with a
passion. "Damn it! Who cooked this poor excuse for a meal?
It's not good enough for one with my blood! I demand an answer!"

Rune stared at Fatora for a moment and shook her head. She
didn't want to know, but she had a feeling that she have a
serious talk with Fatora later.

"Alielle! Sit closer! I don't want you anywhere near
Nanami!" With a look of regret, Alielle repositioned herself
next to Fatora.

Nanami watched Makoto eat silently. Chewing and swallowing
the mouthful of food, she decided to talk to him. "So, Makoto,
how come you couldn't come with us to the city? It was really
fun today."

Makoto shrugged his shoulders. "I had some work to do, and
besides, I promised Dr. Stouboug to be his test subject. We were
able to decipher some ancient text today. It was a pretty
inciteful experience."

Nanami shrugged her shoulders as if she didn't care.
"Whatever Makoto, you're just All Business. No time for fun and
play, right?" Nanami didn't have a single clue what Makoto had
done for the entire day.

Dr. Stouboug seemed indignant. "How can you say such a
thing. What we discovered today is very important. We've
discovered the theoretical extent of Makoto's power, and based on
his biorhythms, he has a rather high potential for what he can
do. His body is attuned to the elements." Dr. Stouboug would
have continued, but Makoto signaled him to stop.

"I don't think the others need to bored with our work."
Makoto offered. "I'm sure they have better things to talk about
right now. The good Doctor shrugged his shoulders and went
silent.

Nanami stuck her tongue out at Makoto. "That's right. I'm
sure Makoto wouldn't want to bore us with his life."

Makoto looked hurt, but he didn't say a word. Instead he
ignored it like a trooper, and finished his plate. Wiping his
lips dry, he complimented the cook, and hurried out of the room.

Alielle sighed as she looked at Nanami. "Nanami, that was
such a low blow." Nanami recoiled as the purple haired girl
hugged her. Nanami sighed as Shayla's return to Mount Muldoon
had resulted in Alielle paying special attention to her. "I'm
betting Makoto's hurt."

Nanami sighed, and she gave up, knowing that there was no way
to get the girl off her. As Makoto walked out of the main hall,
he thought about a month ago, his promise to Ifurita. He felt
she was an especially tragic character, her past filled with
torment. But it was appropriate that she became the savoir of El
Hazard. Now he felt obligated to bring her back to her world.

It was her torment that made him respectful of her, almost
interested in her.

Makoto just couldn't stand sitting there at dinner, it seemed
that as Makoto he was just an average nobody, someone who
succeeded through hard work, honesty, and such. Nanami was
right. He was boring.

But then again, as Fatora, he felt that he could make a
difference. Of course he did hate the fact for dressing up as a
woman, but the feeling it gave him for being important overcame
his repugnance.

No doubt, tomorrow, Fatora would have been so addicted to her
first taste of freedom today, and she would make Makoto become
her permanent replacement. Makoto sighed as he settled onto his
bed and fell asleep exhausted.

He was no more sleep for a few minutes when the door to his
room opened slightly, and something landed on his stomach.
Makoto coughed out as the air was knocked out of his lungs. "Hi
Makoto!" Makoto almost groaned as he thought of a similar event
that happened a few months ago.

"Hi Alielle, what can I do for you?" Makoto moaned as
Alielle remained on his chest, impeding his comfort.

Alielle giggled. "What is wrong with you? I intrude in your
room, and jump on you, and you still asked me what to do. I just
want to say thank you. Today couldn't have been as good if you
hadn't agreed."

Makoto sighed. "Well, that's nice. Now, can you get off?"
Makoto as a joke spoke in Fatora's normal voice, harsh. Alielle
instantly scrambled off, and she realized what had Makoto had
done, she wasn't quite the happy camper.

Her face was quite priceless as she thumped him on the chest.
"Stop that! You're scaring me. I thought she was in here." She
adjusted her hair and one of the straps to her clothing which had
fallen low.

"Well, think nothing of it. I sort of liked being Fatora, it
sort of made me feel useful." Makoto yawned. "I need my sleep,
I have a feeling that Fatora is going to ask me to do this again
tomorrow, so I need all the energy I can get." Makoto turned his
head to the side. Alielle noted with mild surprise that he had
fallen asleep instantly.

* * *

That morning, Makoto didn't even bother dressing in his
normal clothes, grabbing his Fatora disguise and putting it on.
Of course, he didn't do the makeup well, and Fatora appeared
personally to put on the makeup.

"There, you almost look half as good as I do." Fatora said,
admiring her handy work. Makoto looked in the looking glass, not
as surprised that he looked like a girl.

"Thanks, now, I want some breakfast, I'm starving." Makoto
stood up, and making a final check on his wig, he walked to the
dining hall.

Makoto, once he reached the ground level, cut through the
courtyard his destination the only place with food to quell his
hunger. However, he wasn't prepared for complications.
Something ran up to him and tackled him from behind. "Fatora!
My love!"

Makoto pitched forwards on the ground, his wig flying off.
Fortunately for him, no one was watching. He hissed down.
"Alielle, I'm Makoto!" He grumbled as he was beginning to feel
that Alielle sometimes didn't really pay attention. He was sure
she was present and listening when Fatora mentioned today's
plans.

Alielle looked at Makoto, and gave him the oops-I-forgot
look. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't really paying attention
yesterday."

Makoto placed the wig on his head and adjusted as best as he
could. "Don't worry Alielle, we all make mistakes. How is the
wig?" Alielle reached over, and adjusted the wig, tugging them
back and forth, making a certain part of her body bounce in a
disconcerting way. Makoto closed his eyes, to avoid the
distraction.

"There, all perfect. Too bad you couldn't come along."
Alielle brushed her messed up hair back.

"It wouldn't matter to me at least. Too many important
things are happening in my life. And I'm sorry to say, I'm sort
of relieved that Shayla returned to Muldoon to her duties. She
had a way of interrupting me when I was doing work."

Alielle nodded, as if she understood him completely. "Well,
I shouldn't keep Fatora waiting. She might get angry." Alielle
stood up, and ran. Makoto stood up, and walked to get some
breakfast.

Princess Rune was already there, eating small tidbits and
such. She glanced at Makoto, and smiled. "Ah Fatora, you're up
a little early, aren't you?"

Makoto shrugged his shoulders and answered in Fatora's voice.
"Well, I just couldn't stay asleep. Alielle woke me up." Rune's
face tightened slightly as she heard Alielle's voice.

"I was wondering whether you would be able to entertain the
Prince of Ganon. Prince Virago should be here on the usual
diplomatic visit to us." Rune wanted to see her sister's
reaction. Surprisingly enough, she nodded.

"Not a problem, sister. I'll do my best to see that he
enjoys his stay." Rune bit her tongue, as she remembered how
Fatora hated Prince Virago.

* * *

The entire guard had similar thoughts as they watched what
appeared to be Princess Fatora and Prince Virago slowly walking
around the castle, both in animated conversation. Makoto groaned
as he suffered through the Prince's rather large ego, and he
tried his best to be a good, patient listener.

Virago was having totally different thoughts about
Makoto/Fatora. For one thing, Makoto's make up job was done so
well that he did seem a beautiful woman. As Virago looked at the
man he thought to be Princess Fatora, he felt his pulse quicken
slightly.

Makoto didn't notice Prince Virago slowly getting closer to
him as they spoke, looking out from the balcony at the lands
under the Royal Princesses' rule. "It's a beautiful night."
Makoto muttered in Fatora's voice as he looked out at the
expanse.

Virago looked out of the horizon, glowing in nature's own
fireworks, a unique combination of sky blue, fiery red, and
orange, shimmering. To him, the princess seemed to know real
beauty. Of course to him, he thought she was the most beautiful
thing he ever seen.

"It is, but you haven't seen the sunset at the Watcher Tower
in Ganon. It has the best view from anywhere in El Hazard."

Makoto only smiled. "Really, you must show me sometime."
Makoto locked up as soon as he felt the prince's hand land on
his.

"Really? Let me have the privilege of showing you Ganon?"
Makoto almost swore to himself and he quickly pulled his hand
away.

"I'm sorry, but I must decline. I have a duty to my people,
and I will not abandon them." Makoto rattled off the quickest
excuse he could find.

"Ah, so you still won't change? You've never wanted to visit
Ganon since we were young." The prince paused as he recollected
the past. "Actually, you've changed a lot. You haven't been as
violent to me as you use to be." Virago winced as he remember
Fatora always beating him up.

"Times change, people change." Makoto added as an
afterthought. "for better or worse. I am much different from
the Fatora you know. In fact, you can say that I'm not the same
person."

"It doesn't matter," the strong prince grabbed Makoto and
pulled him close. "except for the fact that I think I love you."
He tried to kiss the "princess," but some quick twisting from
Makoto gave him his freedoom.

Picking up the hinges of his dress, he hurried away as
quickly as possible.

Makoto rushed into the Great Hall and without word walked up,
his face flushed, and sat down in Princess Fatora's throne. He
didn't like what had just happened, but he managed to maintain
his calmness as he sat still on the throne.

"So, Fatora, what do you think about the prince? He is
handsome." Rune offered.

"He has a huge ego and tends not to think simple." Makoto
muttered.

"Besides that, I was thinking about the potential should you
agree to marry him. He is quite a nice man, and it would be
great if we could ally ourselves more than now." Rune continued.
"But of course, I wouldn't want to force you." Rune said, as
Makoto, with a ghostly face stood up and walked to the door.

"I'm sorry," Makoto froze as his voice cracked a little. He
had spent the entire day imitating Princess Fatora's voice, and
he knew that he couldn't maintain it for long. Without further
word, he ran.

Chapter 2

Makoto was more than distressed. He was downright crazyed.
He imagined what life could be like if Fatora married that
overstuffed idiot. No doubt as soon as Fatora moved out, she
would be more than willing to make a few people come along, and
considering what Alielle had told him, Makoto had a feeling that
he would be one of those people.

Right now, Fatora no doubt was discovering the joy of not
bothering with her duties as a princess. For the past two days,
she had been at play, walking around in the city below with
Alielle and Nanami, probably enjoying the female company. And at
the same time, a prince declared love to him, and Rune decided to
possibly engage "her sister" to the prince.

Makoto slammed the door, walked to his bed, and collapsed
into it. Tearing off his wig and costume, he screamed as loud as
he could as he couldn't think of any other way to control the
amount of stress and pressure he was feeling.

The instant effect, was to bring various personages to his
room. The door burst open, and in came Nanami and Alielle.
"Makoto are you all right?" Nanami asked, but instead she saw
Makoto sprawled out on his bed, dressed like a Princess, with a
wig next to him.

Alielle laughed incessantly as she jumped onto Nanami to
block her vision. "Now, Nanami, Makoto's sleeping, better not
bother him!" But Nanami was adamant, and Alielle went off.

Makoto looked up, and seeing that he was dressed as Fatora
and that Nanami was staring at him, his mind clicked. "Nanami,
this isn't what it seems! I can explain!"

Nanami growled as she thought that quite possibly, the only
chance she had for a normal boyfriend went down the tubes.
"Makoto! You pervert, you like dressing up as a girl or
something?"

Alielle took a look at Nanami, who had her hands around
Makoto's throat. "Now, Nanami, what's the point in killing him
off if you want him to be your boyfriend?" she asked using her
most reasonable voice.

"Unhand him, you're going to kill my freedom!" Nanami
released her grip as the real princess Fatora calmly locked the
door behind her and walked in. "See, ever wonder how I got the
time to come along and play with you two? Because Makoto here
has been filling in my place." She then glared at Makoto. "And
a little too well, I have this messed up Prince, who charges into
my room, and gives me a disgusting kiss!"

Fatora clenched her fist. "I should be the one to give him
the beating!" She leaped onto Makoto, and locked her hands
around his throat, very much like Nanami and started to thump his
head against the bed.

Alielle and Nanami grabbed a hold of Fatora and tugged. At
the last minute, Alielle let go, so Nanami ended on the floor
with Fatora on her breast. Alielle took a look at Makoto who was
visible shaken. "So you were charming him?" Alielle smiled.
"Now tell the truth."

Makoto was more than pissed. It was his turn to shout, but
his voice was hoarse from the intense stress he had put it
through that day. "I did not charm him! All I did was listen to
his problems!"

Makoto found a cup of water shoved at him. "You know, plenty
of fluids is the way to conquer a sore throat, drink up."

Fatora got off of Nanami, but not before feeling her up. She
gave Alielle a glare guaranteeded to melt metal. "Come, I think
Makoto needs some rest so he can handle his lover." Makoto
frowned and buried his head into his hands.

* * *

Rune was waiting for Fatora and Alielle in her room. Her
face was a little more than displeased. "So Fatora, what is the
matter with you? You first show a streak of kindness and
humanity, and then you become mean and uncontrolable? You've
charmed the prince to the point he tells me of his desire to
marry you, and now, you kick him in the groin and throw him out
of your room?"

Fatora tried her best not to laugh out loud. Alielle grumble
and turned her head away lest she betray her lover. Rune
continued. "But I am amazed, as the prince wished to apologize
to you. And as an apology, we are going to have a ball in two
days to honor him, all appropriate guests have been invited and
such."

Fatora grimaced, as she decidedly didn't like the prince. No
doubt he would be a great asset to the kingdom, but there was no
way she would self sacrifice herself by marrying that fool. Rune
sighed. "That is all." She stood up, and left her sister's
room.

Alielle sighed. "It's that bad. So what are you going to do
about it?" she asked as she cuddled next to Fatora.

"I don't know," Fatora grumbled, but an idea soon entered her
head. "But then again, I'm sure Makoto wouldn't mind."

"Makoto? Why are you always picking on him like that? He's
so nice." Alielle didn't know that Fatora would be capable of
going that far. She knew that Makoto wouldn't like being forced
to be mushy and loving towards the prince. But with his respect
for Princess Rune, Alielle knew that Makoto would push his
desires aside and do as he was told.

"Well, he's not the Princess and I am!" Fatora grumbled as
she laid down on her bed. "It's because he wouldn't care if his
life was ruined. I want to live my life."

Alielle sighed as she readied for sleep. "Are you sure? The
princess that everyone now knows is him. He is the princess."
Alielle turned over and fell asleep.

Fatora grumbled as Alielle was clearly arguing with her. "If
you don't like me so much, then you can't sleep on my bed!" She
shoved Alielle to the side, causing her to tumble unceremoniously
off the bed.

Alielle tried the weak girl act. "But lover? I never meant
to say anything against you." Alielle slinked back onto the bed.

"Yeah right, I want to be alone tonight." Fatora grumbled.
"Because Makoto screwed up his voice today, I think I have to do
work tomorrow. I want to rest up."

Alielle sighed, and she walked out of the room.

* * *

Strangely enough, the next day was a rather filled day. It
was the day that Fujisawa and the rest of the Muldoon priestesses
returned from their trek to Muldoon to answer messages. (There
were none. Who in their right mind would climb a mountain to ask
a question?)

Fujisawa yawned, as besides visiting Mount Muldoon, he and
the priestesses had fun checking out the Bazaar in a remote
merchant city. And right now, he felt the urge to check up on
his students. Even though he was a drunkard, he did feel a
responsibility to check on those under his wing.

Fujisawa knocked on the door to Nanami's chambers, and
opening a tiny crack in the door, he saw her sleeping on the bed.
He smiled and closed the door silently. He then proceeded down
the hall past his room to Makoto's room.

He gripped the door, and pushed it open all the way. Of
course, he wouldn't have done this if Makoto was a girl, but
since he was a boy and a good friend, Fujisawa decided to wake
him up.

He walked into the room, and took a few steps, everything
seemed alright. Makoto was sleeping, but managing to seem tense
and strained. Fujisawa sighed as he knew Makoto was a hard
worker, and he thought that perhaps the poor boy deserved a long
rest.

But then he heard this voice. "Oh, lover, one more time."
Fujisawa watched hands reenacting a dream snake up and around
Makoto. He freaked out.
