Well, I've been reviewing various things on the 'net as the Happy Guy
since 1994, so I thought I'd jump in here.

Fanfic reviews: personally, I love 'em. Shaun is doing a great job at
sorting out Ranma fics, and I love the little quotes he gives. Chris
is doing SM reviews, and helping to sort through the mountain of fics
there, as is Levar Bouyer.

At their best, reviews are a useful tool, showing potential readers what
is out there. True, they can be tiresome if taken to one extreme or
the other (I posted a few reviews last summer. Since I tended to like
everything, they quickly got dull and I stopped.).

Several of my favorite stories I've read because I saw a review: Damaged,
by Elizabeth Tuckwood, comes to mind.

So, they're not totally evil. It just depends on the reviewer.
