I use !Zap, which is a very EMacs-like text editor that does
everything you can imagine (OK, perhaps not quite everything,
but everything *useful*).  I used to spellcheck texts on my
parents' computer with Word (6.0), but I dropped that habit, and
now I have the best prereaders in the world. :)

Terry Pratchett says:

  Use a wordprocessor... why do I feel this is not unnecessary advice
  here? It makes everything mutable. It's better for the ego. And you can
  play games when all else fails.

I think the man has identified the biggest advantage of writing
with a computer, don't you?  :)
