Poor, poor Sydney. It just isn't the luckiest of cities. Largo, if I remember
correctly, used it as one of the demonstration sites for his killer satellite
control in BGCrisis (6?).
DC used it as the main invasion point in that ludicrous invasion storyline
they ran in about 1989 or so.
On the other hand, in Independence Day, it's still standing, indicating
that (since it's the largest Australian city) Australia got out of that
one better than most countries.
This isn't really meant to detract from the story, which was a fine one,
but... as someone who sees Sydney light up in Northern Hemisphere stories
almost as often as the matchstick city itself(Tokyo, of course), I just
couldn't take that bit seriously. Probably just a personal thing though,
don't mind me, I'm ranting.

And now I'm not. Besides that thing, which is completely a personal view,
it was a good opening to a story. I'll wait to see more...
