Quick interesting note on "itadakimasu"...

By now this has been defined a dozen times so I won't bother. It's
basically a really polite "rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub". 

Now, sometimes, when translating anime, you wind up getting weird
translations of itadakimasu.

Take Fushigi Yuugi, fansubbed by Tomodachi, for instance.

In the first episode, at the beginning, Miaka has a dream where she is
surrounded by all kinds of delicious food. She starts ranting about how
wonderful it all is, and she commands the food: "Come into my stomach!"
When she says "Itadakimasu!", Tomodachi decided to translate it as "Thanks
for coming!"
