Here's a thought.  What would a Ranma 1/2 fanfic written by Makoto (SM) be
like?  Or a Evagelion written by Ryoko (TM)?  Or, well, you get the idea.
It's an exercise that lets you both mess around with the charcters but
good, and examine the character of the writer.  Hence the name CharFic.
For example...

                                     -==-

   ....Miyu turned to her giant black companion, the light that streamed
through the window causing a gleam her eyes to gleam and sparkle.  A single
tear welled-up in her eye and rolled slowly down her smooth, pale skin.
"Shinma," she began, a slight tremble in her voice, "you, you...love me?"

   The Shinma nodded once, his head bobbing down in the darkness.  "Yes...

                                     -==-

   Usagi crumpled up the paper she was writing and tossed it in the
wastepaper basket.  "But the Shinma _never_ talks," she muttered under her
breath.  "Oh well, there's always another series..."
