Douglas Reeves responded to the fic idea that Jeremy and myself
posted as such:
Heh. the problem here is that Sylia never demonstrates that kind of
resolve. On numerous occasions the Knight Sabers violate the code,
sometimes very flagrantly, and she does nothing about it. Indeed, she
even participates in such violations. Personally, I don't think Sylia
is hardened enough to do it, though she tries very hard to look like
she is.
The reason why we singled Nene out is exactly the fact of her
recruitment. Sylia placed an ad out on the Internet. Granted, it was a
heavily coded and encrypted ad, but it was still sent out to the public.
Anyone could have broken it, as Doug pointed out later in his message.
As for Sylia not having the resolve to kill someone in cold blood, I
think that she would have been able to at the beginning. I tend to
think of her as a fanatic that has mellowed over time. When she started
recruiting, her fanatasism must have been at an all time high. The way
that we were figuring was something like this:
I come here in good will, and offer you a chance to make a
difference, and you deny me? You tell me to let go of my hate, and to
move on? That I won't have any effect at all? You have the GALL to
defy ME? I don't think so, bitch. If you are not part of the cure, you
are part of the disease. And baby, I'm a fucking scalpel.
Obviously, Sylia wouldn't start killing Priss, Nene, and Linna. They
are her comrades. They have been forged in the same fire of battle as
she has. They have proved thier worth time and again. They are her
warriors, her arms. Of course she is going to bend the rules a bit for
them. If a new member came in, she had better adhere to those rules,
however. She isn't trusted. She is a variable. She hasn't been forged
yet, so we aren't going to associate with her. She would be an
outsider. Until we fight together. Then she is family. Then she is
our sister, and you don't mess with our family.
Which brings me to Priss. Why does Sylia give Priss such free reign?
Sylia is envious of Priss. Priss had the courage to do what Sylia
couldn't. Priss was out fighting GENOM while Sylia was hiding in her
basement lab tinkering with the hardsuits. Priss had the courage to do
it without a mask. Priss uses the hardsuits simply because they offer a
convienient power boost. Sylia uses them to hide her identity. Sylia
is terrified of GENOM. They killed her father, and perverted his
greatest work. She has every right to be afraid. But Priss, Priss has
had everything taken from her. Her family, her lover, her life. And
Priss fights back, with or without the hardsuits. She isn't afraid to
tell GENOM who she is, and where they can shove it. So Sylia is envious
of Priss.
I'm going to stop there, and get back to my homework. This is ample
reason to not check my mail during my psychology homework. Feel free to
argue this with me. I would like to keep this on the list, however, as
I think that this is both a writing aid, and a great source of ideas for
fics. If you think this is Spam, let me know, and I will take this off.
Ja!
