I was just reading a book on Norse mythology, and thinking of maybe writing
a story with Sailor Senshi based on the Norse gods. Eventually, I reached
the part about Ragnarok (for those who don't know, the Norse "final
battle"), and read that, prior to the final battle, the world was going to
experience Fimbulvetr, the "winter of winters".

HEY! In Sailor Moon, didn't the world freeze over for most of the
time up until the 30th Century? What would the Sailor Moon version of
Ragnarok be like? Who wants to see this, and are there any ideas on how I
could expand it?

The obvious sticking point is Crystal Tokyo. I can think of three
possible ways to involve Crystal Tokyo - (1) Ragnarok takes place before
Crystal Tokyo is built, (2) There are two possible futures - Crystal Tokyo
or Ragnarok, (3) The creation of Crystal Tokyo precedes Ragnarok, and the
city (along with the rest of the world) is (obviously) in great danger of
being destroyed.
I'm not an expert, but as I recall, after Ragnerok, some of the younger
gods survived, Balder came back from the dead, and they worked together to
restore the world.

While we're on Norse mythology, concerning A!MS: Many writers say
that Urd, Belldandy, and Skuld are the goddesses of the Past, Present, and
Future, respectively, but the book I was looking at ascribes different roles
to them. These are -
       Urd: Fate
       Verdandi*: Necessity
       Skuld: Being
I'm not angry about the mistake (if it is one), this is just an interesting
tidbit of info I found.
In the second the second book translated, the translators talk about how
they talked with one of the experts on the Mythology before they made their
decision on how to do the names. They got a bit of extra information too.
Basically the Norns were add ons to the myths, reflecting the growing fatalism
of the norse people. And the actual names are not so much names as descriptions
of their jobs. Oh and the names aren't that far from their jobs, Skuld
traditionally created the threads of life(Being) And Urd cut them at the moment
of their destened death(Fate) Verthandi wove them together in the patern of
life(Necessity).

* The Japanese phonetics for "Verdandi" and "Belldandy" are identical, so
it's easy to see how the spelling mistake was made.
Actually the translaters simply ascribed it as an aspect of playing fast
and loose with the origional material which is why they kept the name Belldandy.
