Since this fic has come up over the last 24 hours, and I just read the
most recent segment today, let me add my opinion: Despite the serious
creeps I get from this Ranma, I find the story to be engrossing and
absolutely riveting -- I find myself reading it in much the same way
bystanders find themselves staring at a bloody fatal automobile accident
-- in horrified disbelief and unable to tear my eyes away.
I want to know just *what* about Nabiki it is that terrifies Ranma. That
passage surprised me -- I knew Ranma was cautious and wary, but I didn't
expect fear. The same passage also gives the lie to Ranma's summary of
Akane's "people-evaluation skills", too... she may catch on to him faster
that he expects. The final question that stands out in my mind, too, is,
is Ranma merely a very good actor, or is some of what he feels for Akane
*real*? Can she drag him back from the abyss before he pulls her in with
him?
