I have read a lot of writing from people who hate the American revision
of Sailor Moon. They claim that American translation has destroyed it.
The truth is I wouldn't know. I have no idea what goes on in the
Japanese version. Despite my best efforts I find I cannot comprehend
most SM fics because I don't know who's who. If someone could give me a
few hints I could really use them.
I would highly recommend getting the SM FAQ written by Ken Arromdee. It
explains a lot of things.
A quick who's who :
Tsukino Usagi -> Serena -> Sailor Moon
Mizuno Ami -> Amy (Anderson) -> Sailor Mercury
Aino Minako -> Mina -> Sailor Venus/Sailor V
Kino Makoto -> Lita/Leda (and varations there of) -> Sailor Jupiter
Chibi-Usa -> Rini (or varaition there of) -> Sailor Chibi-Moon who hasn't
appeared yet in the dub
Meiou Setsuna -> (No NA name given) -> Sailor Pluto
Ten'ou Haruka -> (No NA name given) -> Sailor Uranus (Briefly appeared in
the dub of Original ep. 89)
Kaiou Michiru -> (No NA name given) -> Sailor Neptune (Briefly appeared in
the dub of Original ep. 89)
Tomoe Hotaru -> (No NA name given) -> Sailor Saturn (Very brief glimspe of
Hotaru in the dub of ep. 89)
IMO the dub mangaled a lot of stuff but after DiC decided to finish off R
it did a fairly decent job. At least it did better then it did before for
most eps.
Now, getting to the point, I got a brilliant idea for a hilarious fic or
a potential disaster depending on how you look at it. I'm sure this idea
has probably been proposed before but here it is:
-Make an SM fic where the American versions of the characters meet the
Japanese versions.
That idea has been done before. The one that springs immediately to mind is
"Reality Check" and "Grim Reality" by Richard E, Rae both excellent fics.
There are others fics but those two are the best that I can think of.
