Hello everyone in the FFML!

Alright I have a question for all Eva fans, idle watchers of the show and
fanatics alike.
I am currently writing an Eva fanfic, which continues the story with no
regard towards the movie what-so-ever.
Remember no stuff about the movie will appear in my fanfic, and I want your
honest opinon.
So here's the question for you:

What do you think about a Shinji and Rei relationship?  A Shinji and Asuka
relationship?
What do you think works better?

I'm asking because I'd like to know what the general Eva Fanfic reader
(you) likes in a story.
Of  coarse, I may just wave the majority of the decisions and do whatever I
feel like.
Please respond by private e-mail.  Mind you there's nothing to stop me if
you write through the FFML.  But you'd probaly piss off a few people by
doing so.  Am I being a hypocrite for doing this my-self?  No matter.
