The Black Moon family was losing the war. Even their efforts to catch the
Rabbit had failed.

In a move of utter desperation, they sank the remainder of their power AND
a large portion of the Dark Crystal into the creation of a single creature. 

It would be sent back to a time before the Senshi first appeared. If it
succeeded in it's mission, it will destroy the Sailor Senshi... before they
even existed. 

It's purpose: Kill Tsukino Usagi, their leader.
