Whispers


	Ranma looked up at the night sky as he leaned back on the roof. He
couldn't sleep with the thoughts of Akane being angry with him. By opening
his big mouth again, this time, instead of being hit by a hammer, he was
hit with something that hurt him more...Akane's tears. Seeing her cry like
that always made his heart feel as if it was being torn apart. Ranma always
tried not to make Akane angry, but somehow, it just comes out though he
didn't really mean to. 

Now he was on the roof again, thinking of all the things that he could've
done to prevent Akane from crying. He made up his mind though and swiftly
went to Akane's window and peered in through the glass. 

*Good, p-chan's not here.*
	
He quietly slid open the window and gently sat on Akane's bedside, looking
down softly at her. He sighed and said in a soft voice, 

"Akane...I know I did something I shouldn't have done, but I didn't mean it
really." 

Ranma looked at the sleeping Akane and continued, 

"It's just that when I want to say something nice to you, I...um...I'm
afraid you would just think it was a joke and make fun of me." He laughed
quietly and said, "I bet you would make fun of me right now if you could
only hear me." 

Ranma stood up and kept quiet for a few minutes, just staring at Akane's
sleeping form. He kneeled at the side of her bed and smiled at her,
"Y'know, you really are cute. The way you talk, the way you act, the way
you smile at me, everything about you is just so perfect." Akane turned
sideways to face Ranma and yawned, "You have really beautiful eyes Akane,
if only I could just get a glimpse of them right now...but of course, if
you wake up, the first thing I'd see would be your hammer... It kinda feels
stupid talking to you while you're asleep...but I guess it's easier to say
what you feel like this, when you're sure the other won't tease you about
it...ummm...I've said too much haven't I?"

Ranma looked at the sleeping Akane and said, "Of course you wouldn't answer
'coz you're asleep." He sat down beside her and gently touched her soft
cheek. Ranma moved closer to Akane and said in a near whisper,
"Akane...whatever happens...whoever we end up with...I'll always be here
for you...always...I promise..." 

Akane stirred and Ranma froze. She then pulled Ranma down and kissed him
softly on the lips. After the kiss, Akane smiled and turned on her bed, her
eyes still closed. Ranma didn't know what to do and went out the window
with a last look at Akane. Once he was sitting on the roof, he sighed and
touched his lips. Though his heart was racing and his cheeks were flaming,
Ranma calmly smiled and leaned back down on the roof looking at the stars,
thinking of Akane...

	"I'll always be here for you too, Ranma..." Akane whispered as she closed
her eyes and finally fell into a deep sleep.
