This is something that gets said in fanfics all the time. Just out of
curiosity, is there any actual indication in the original Ranma 1/2 that
Ranma considers Ukyo his best friend? Respond privately on this, please,
as the last thing the list needs right now is another Spam thread.

" Here." Something was being offered to him, a wrapped up parcel.  "I'm
sorry I forgot your birthday."
He sat up, cocking his head to one side as he looked at the girl in
front of him with a new light. He smiled, his first happy smile that
day.
" Thanks." Perhaps life wasn't so bad after all, he couldn't think of
anyone else he would want to remember his birthday.

O-kay... my first guess is Akane... my second guess is a bit old to be
called a girl, but makes for a very nice ending if what's in the parcel
is what I think.
