Is there any reason Ranma didn't have those sort of classes?  I would 
think someone in his extended family would be thoughtful enough to 
realize that he might want them.  And if he didn't take them because 
he wanted to hang onto his masculinity or something like that, let us 
know about it.

OK, I'll add something to this effect.

You maybe should do a bit more of a rewrite, Gary.  Lamaze requires a
couple: the pregnant woman and a helper called a "coach".  This is ideally
the husband/father of the baby, but almost anyone will do in a pinch.
Although the woman is advised to pick someone she won't mind being present
when she gives birth.  Unless Ranma was much more of a jerk than usual, he
was Akane's Lamaze coach.  Perhaps he thought he knew enough about it to
skip the classes?
