Now...
"Without Friends" Part 1, v0.1 - A new beginning
It may be emotionally tense, but it's not dark (no deaths). Promise.
-Akane's interdimensional hammer, coupled with a magic Joketsuzoku
mirror portal, sends Ranma into another universe... one in which Ranma
was a horrible person, and everyone treats him with hostility. There's
no way to get back, and he's forced to rebuild his life again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ranma no baka!"
Ranma tried to avoid Akane's hammer. He evaded, continually stepping
back, when *CRASH!* Shampoo had come in the usual way, crumbling the
wall. Akane's hammer hit home. Ranma was slammed back into Shampoo,
who was holding a mirror. A bright flash of light occurred as Ranma
disappeared.
Shampoo said, "What violent pervert girl do now to Ranma?"
Akane said, "He landed in _your_ mirror!"
Shampoo gasped. She exclaimed, "Mirror come from great-grandma. She
say mirror way to travel through space and time and reality. When
think of situation and jump in, mirror take them there. I take
Ranma and jump in and go to universe with no pervert girl."
Akane was barely holding her anger, "What happens if he doesn't think
of anything when he jumps in?"
It finally dawned on Shampoo. She collapsed on her knees. "Then...
don't know where end up."
Akane was steaming. Smoke was literally coming out of her ears.
"You... don't know? How could you!"
Shampoo bolted, Akane chasing her all the way to the Nekohanten.
* * * * *
Ranma landed on the floor of the Tendou yard. He was really confused -
he had taken a dizzying trip through a black haze. His last thoughts
were "of all the hate in the world... why does it have to directed at
me?"
He sat up, surveying the surroundings. <This is the Tendou dojo, but
it's nighttime. Where's Akane? Where's Shampoo?> He didn't have to
wait long for an answer.
"I thought I told you to leave."
Ranma stared up at the voice. It was Akane, but the look of pure hate
in her eyes was enough to pierce through his soul. She was holding
a very sharp object in her hand. Her breathing was heavy. She let her
full anger show, enveloping her in crimson.
"I'll count to five. If you don't get out of here, you'll very much
regret it. One..."
Ranma stared in shock at her. <What happened? Who is this woman and
where's Akane?> "Look, Akane..."
She gave no response. "Two..."
Ranma was thoroughly confused, but he tried again. "What the heck
is going on? Can't you just tell me?"
"You know perfectly well what's going on. Three..."
Ranma didn't. He _did_ know that Akane was serious. He stood up.
"Four..."
<Maybe I should come back later. She's ready to kill!>
"Five!"
Ranma reacted on pure adrenaline and instinct. He ran and jumped over
the wall. When he was on the other side, he just stood there, panting.
<What the heck happened to Akane? I didn't do anything wrong this
time.>
A car ran over a puddle and splashed him. A dripping wet onna-Ranma
stood there, consumed by stupor.
Kunou Tatewaki decided at this moment to show up. "Akane will be very
happy to see me! She accepted the offerings of mine own date. I am
the luckiest man in the world!"
onna-Ranma snapped back to reality, barely containing her anger.
<Why... in all of Nerima... Kunou! That guy does _not_ know when to
quit!>
Kunou notices onna-Ranma. onna-Ranma sighs, bracing for the usual
"pig-tailed goddess" comments. What she got, however, was a surprise.
Kunou pointed a finger at her. "You are a coward Saotome, hiding in
this womanly body with your sorcery. You have deceived me for too long
with your feminine disguise. To think that I had actually loved you.
I cannot bear it any longer. I will not normally hit girls, but I must
make an exception in your case. I shall smite thee!" Kunou proceeded
to do just that, and Ranma avoided.
Someone dropped a watermelon into her arms. Ranma looked up to see who
it was. <Nabiki...>
Kunou instinctively lunged for the watermelon, slicing it and slamming
onna-Ranma across the street. Ranma stood up... and felt a jarring
pain across her chest. <Whoa. When did Kunou's attacks get stronger
all of a sudden?>
Kunou turned away, laughing aloud. "I have done away with the evil
sorcerer. You are free of him, Akane! You will be mine to date!"
The words hit Ranma with an intensity much greater than the pain she
was feeling in her chest right now. And she was still confused.
<This is really strange. First Akane wants to kill me, then Kunou
hates my girl form. At least I don't have to worry about him anymore.>
Akane answered the door. "Hi! Kunou-sempai, come on in. I have
something special for you. You'll like it very much."
Ranma's heart stopped. She froze. <This Akane likes Kunou... Akane
likes Kunou... not me. Not me.>
Nowhere to go, she wandered off. She went to a nearby cafe to rest and
think.
She sat in a table at the front of the cafe. "Hot tea please." she
told the waitress who had come up. All she got was a hostile stare.
In fact, Ranma felt goose-bumpy all over as everyone stared at her
hostilely.
The waitress said in a quiet but inimical tone, "You are not welcome
here. Please go away."
Ranma just stared. <Why are everybody's eyes drilling holes into me?
It isn't as if I'd hurt 'em or nothin'.> The hostility was too much
for her. She left in a daze.
<What's happening? Why is everybody so hostile?>
Only the night breeze responded her query.

Author's Notes:
Confusion abound. Poor Ranma. He's still recovering from everything
and he can't do anything. Everybody judges him with a prejudiced eye.
Let's just see how he'll get through this one.
Putting Ranma through hell is fun.
-Next Part: Ranma visits his mom! Lots more fun up ahead!
C&C Very very welcome
