Author's notes:
There's been a clamouring for second chapter, and here it is. It is a
rough draft and does have some lemony moments, but I hope it ties in with
the story well. Comments are appreciated. Ranma , Myst & Raven are (c)
1993, 1996, 1998 of R. T. and Cyan respectively. I'll probably get sued
over this anyway. There are spoilers about the Myst game, but I figure at
least 90% of you have beaten the games anyway. Enjoy!
Part 2 "Love with a twist of lemon."
"You mean that Takewaki and Nabiki are now engaged?" squealed Sayuri as
she and Yuki were laughing in the planetarium, where they were having a bit
of a private moment. The door was closed and the lights were off as they
saw the sky as it would have been in dark. The only other light was from
the glowing switch that turned on the light. It shined on the girls' clothing.
"I hope that thing had a lock," said Yuki, a bit worried. "You know how I
hate to see good things like this go to waste."
Unfortunately, like a bad omen, the door opened and Daisuke and Hirosuke
rushed in. The girls squealed as the door closed behind them.
"Oops. Sorry," sputtered out Daisuke as Hirosuke had a look of lust in his
eyes. Daisuke hit him. "Will ya quit that? Just because they're naked girls
doesn't mean that you should drool on them."
"Get out of here!" Sayuri screamed.
"Uh, how? The door is closed?" said Hirosuke as he tried frantically to
open the door.
"There's a hidden switch above the light," Sayuri said.
Hirosuke hit the light switch. The girls screamed again.
"Above the light switch! Above it!" yelled Yuki.
"Sorry," mumbled Hirosuke as he blushed. Daisuke threw the girls' clothes
towards the chair. "We were told to find everyone and get them down by the
dock. There's an secret passageway there."
"Who found it?" asked Yuki as she dressed.
"Akane after she threw P-chan to the secret door," answered Daisuke.
"How did Akane's pet pig get there?"
Hirosuke answered, "That's because Akane's pet pig is actually Ryouga in
his cursed form."
"This is terrible, horrible!" yelled Nabiki as she was left behind in the
library with Takewaki, her inazuke...she shuddered to thing about the
things that had implied. And her mother, of all people. Apparently, she and
her father were in a bethrothment engagement as young as three. What worked
for her, Nabiki reasoned, she thought it would work for me. Usually, under
these circumstances, people's loan rates would go up.
"This is indeed a predictament. I am sure that Saotome is not of the
cause, and yet I feel that I must blame him," quoth Takewaki. "We are
suppose to get aquainted with each other, which as the Blue Thunder, feel
that it need not apply. We are not fated to be together."
"Now that, I can agree with," replied Nabiki. "So, Kuno, what'll we do?"
"Our mothers are stubborn, much like our sisters," the kendoist reflected.
"So, we must find a way to draw doubt in their minds that we are not the
right ones and thus find a way out of this predicament."
Nabiki nodded, although it very much surprised her that Kuno was making
far too much sense. "Have you been drinking or something? You're making far
too much sense."
"My mother convinced me that my Pig-Tail Goddess and that cur Saotome are
one and the same," growled Kuno. "Did I ever tell you about my mother's
secret life?"
"No," said Nabiki as she raised an eyebrow showing her interest. "do tell."
"Are you familiar with the Street Fighters competition?"
"Quite so."
"My Mother was one of the fighters, her name was I believe Rose," she
said. "She taught my sister many of her techinques with the instructions
that she should not use them until the time was right. I believe that the
time is right, and my mother will finish the lessons that she had begun
with her."
"Rose," murmured Nabiki. "Somehow that name is very familiar...aiee! You
mean the same Rose that mysteriously vanished after first defeating Ryu,
Sagat and Bison?" Nabiki's eyes were now extremely wide. "She had moves
that no one has ever been able to counter...much like Ranma when he get
into his Neko-ken mode. You don't suppose that she would use her abilities
to keep us in line with our 'engagement?'"
Kuno's face went from a look of thought to a look of surprised when
Nabiki's question finally sunked into his head. "Yes, Mother would do that."
"You mean, you understand the powers of the Neko-ken?" asked the
red-haired girl as she and Mrs. Kuno talked near the dock waiting for the
others to come back.
"Yes, Ranma, I do. Bison had it for a very long time, along with many
other psychotic fears that he had. He could use them to drive others
insane, and from what you've been telling me, he has now made Ryu
completely mad. I, however, do know how to not get into that frame of mind,
since it will eventually destory you," Mrs. Kuno replied to Ranma. "Which
reminds me, honestly Ranma, is my daughter really insane?"
"As insane as her father, if not worse," replied Ranma-chan.
"Hmm...I see. It runs in the family, I guess. You see, the day I
disappeared, my husband put me here since he had wanted Bison to defeat me
he didn't want to get a divorce. He didn't have a leg to stand on in court."
"How did he discover the book?" asked Ranma-chan.
Mrs. Kuno shook her head in disgust. "I haven't a clue."
"We're coming, mother," shouted Kuno as he and Nabiki walked down
together. Nabiki looked intently at Mrs. Kuno before entering the secret
passageway.
"Gee, what got her goat?" Ranma-chan murmured as the two teens walked into
the passageway.
"Oh, Suki and I had decided a long time ago to have Nabiki and my son put
into an engagement, much like you and Akane," said Mrs. Kuno as they walked
downward into the basement. Ranma-chan blushed.
"You do realize that they've probably gonna try to figure out a way to get
out of this. We do all the time," Ranma-chan said.
"I understand, and I understand that such things can be done very poorly.
But we feel that if had they known a long time ago, they wouldn't act like
this," Mrs. Kuno said.
"Interesting," said Akane as she held P-chan by the neck, still furiated
by the fact that Ryouga had slept with her...that pervert. "There seems to
be water in there."
"It's not water," replied Kodachi. "I'm pretty sure it's a hologram." She
reached her hands into the waters and indeed it was a hologram, since the
water disappeared.
"Cool," said Hirosuke, leaning back against the left wall next to the
stairs. He felt a small bump on the smooth wall. He turned and he saw a
faintly glowing red button. "Well, well. Looky here." He pushed the button
and a large panel was opened.
"Interesting," said Kodachi. "It seems to be a simple interface that
connects itself into the holographic projector."
"Since when did Kodachi knew so much about hi-tech stuff?" whispered
Nabiki to Takewaki.
Kuno looked back at his inazuke and replied, "I haven't the faintest of
ideas."
Suddenly, the gymnast turned around and looked at Nabiki. "Do you still
have the letter?"
"Yeah," she said as she pulled it out from her blouse. "Hmm...it says that
Atrus wanted his wife to push the number that correspond to number of
'marker switches.' I guess that would be eight."
"Yes, there are eight switches, dear," replied Mrs. Tendo. Nabiki sighed
before she continued.
"So, take it down to eight," Nabiki said to Hirosuke as he flipped
downward from the '47' numeral to the '08' one. The holographic program
stopped revealing nothing, except a bunch of lights that weren't there
before. Kasumi pushed a button that was there at the base of the projector.
A face was revealed.
"Atrus," said Mousse. Atrus looked like a stout American man that needed
to either grow a beard or badly needed a shave.
Atrus simply spoke, "Catherine, my love I have to leave quickly. Something
terrible has happened. It's hard for me to believe, but most of my books
have been destroyed. Catherine, I believe it's one of our sons! I suspect
Achenar, but I shouldn't leap to conclusions. I'll find him and Sirrus as
well. I should have known better than to have left my library unchecked for
so long. Well, I've removed the remaining undamaged books from the library,
and placed them in their places of protection. You shouldn't have to use
the books until I return, but, if you've forgotten the access keys,
remember the tower rotation. Oh, and don't worry Catherine, everything will
be fine. Oh and erase this message after you've viewed it. Just to be
safe." The message having been completed, the image vanished.
"Damn," whistled Ranma. "We're up against something really evil, and there
could be two of them."
"Somehow I have a feeling that Catherine didn't quite make it here," added
Mousse. "Perhaps we must find out who did this and free Atrus such that he
could be free."
"Indeed," said Mrs. Tendo. "I guess we should have investigated eariler
that we did."
"No harm in that, it has only been three 'days' here, anyway," replied
Mrs. Kuno. "Okay, folks, we've got a little challenge here. We have to
figure out what all of this stuff have to do with each other."
The cover had a sheet that had all of the currently available programs on
there. Nabiki discovered a computer pannel that was hidden on the other
side of the button where more could be made.
"Tower rotation...there's a tower back behind the library, and I'm
guessing by the way the tower fits in snuggly with the library, there has
to be something that connects the two together, as if there was a secret
passageway or something," said Akane.
"So, where would the key be?" asked Shampoo. "Shampoo no think it would be
very far away."
"True," said Mousse, "and Shampoo, you don't have talk like a pidgon,
okay?" Shampoo nodded. "Good. It has to be in the library. Let's go!"
Everyone left except Nabiki, Kuno, Kodachi, and the two mothers.
"I understand, Nabiki," said Mrs. Kuno, "that you aren't liking the idea
of marrying into the Kuno family?"
"Hai," shouted Nabiki. Kuno nodded in affirment.
"I understand that, but it has precident. Do you truly think that Ranma
and Akane love each other?"
"We can find out," said Nabiki.
"How?" asked Kodachi.
"Through the holographic projector."
"But, there's only four functions!"
"Actually, five, as I see here. If you turn to '99', I can get a listing
of all of the hidden cameras, and we can easily find Akane and Ranma and
follow them," replied Nabiki. "If in the next thirty minutes, Akane and
Ranma don't show any signs of love, then this you'll have to admit that
matchmaking doesn't work!" The mothers agreed and they looked down at the
projection.
The rest of the group went to the library and looked around.
"Say, what's with this picture of the bookshelf?" asked Yuta.
"Beats me," replied Sayuki as she touched it. The picture swirled a bit.
Then the group heard a moving sound like a huge cranking machine was
running without any oil. The bookcase lowered itself turning into a
stepcase into a secret passageway. The top part of the wall slid upwards.
"Impressive," said Shampoo. "A huge secret passage way behind the bookcase."
"The other picture must close the thing," said Daisuke, as he touched the
picture of the doorway. The staircase became a bookcase once again.
"Hmm, the books seem to be very damaged," added Mousse, "except four of
them."
Hirosuke replied, "So, we'll read the books in order to figure out what to
do, huh?"
"Right," said Akane. "But, the tower rotation is still a puzzle to me."
"Could be," said Ranma as he pointed to another picture, "that might be
the key? I mean the other two paintings control the doors opening and
closing?"
"And the man seems to be a holographic expert," added Daisuke. "Sure."
Ranma touched the screen and an image of the logistics of the island
appeared.
"There's the tower, Ranma. Rotate it." said Akane.
Ranma nodded and he touched the tower part. It felt real, as if it was a
wheel or a spool. Suddenly it rotated clockwise as it moved to across the
dock and the observatory. The pointer turned red.
"Interesting," said Mousse as he started to read some of the preserved
books. "This man has a very interesting lifestyle."
Hirosuke pressed the painting to transform the bookshelf into a staircase.
"Well, I guess that explains everything. There's what eight things, so
there should be several 'keys.'"
"Right," said Yuki. "that means that there should be a clue or two up in
that tower."
"Great," said Shampoo as she left with Mousse into the passageway, still
reading the book. Yuki and Sayuki pulled Hirosuke and Daisuke through the
passageway as well. Kasumi picked up the glasses-steaming Dr. Tofu and
walked outside towards the model ship pool. That left Ranma-chan, P-chan
and Akane in the Library.
"Bwee," mournfully said P-chan.
"You'd better be sorry, Pig," angrily said Akane as she shook P-chan. "I
mean it!" The pig nodded mournfully.
"Uh, Akane, I think you'd better calm down a second," said Ranma. "I mean..."
"So, what?!" shouted Akane.
Ranma gulped. "Serious, Akane, you really shouldn't be so mad at Ryouga
here. I mean he hasn't violated you or anything like that. Besides I
accidently tossed him into the spring, anyway."
"So what does that have to do with anything?!"
"He loves you," said Ranma adding in a soft whisper, "And so do I."
"NOOOO!" screamed Nabiki. "It wasn't suppose to happen like that!"
"Well, at least Ranma has admitted his love to Akane," smiled Mrs. Tendo,
"Wouldn't you agree Muyi?"
"It does seem plausible, Suki," replied Mrs. Kuno. "Are you convinced?"
"Not quite, mother," Kuno replied. "Lo, Akane has not answered." The group
returned to the holodeck viewing cauldron.
Akane thought to herself as Ranma pulled out Ryouga's backpack and started
to make a fire. Somehow, Ryouga got a hold of a portable
electric/gas/fusion grill set and Ranma was now starting to boil water for
the them. He had somehow saved Ryouga's clothing as well.
"So, you mean if you had to choose between Ukyou, Shampoo, Kodachi and me,
you'd pick me?" dumbly asked Akane.
"Yeah," replied Ranma as the water started to boil.
"But...but...you love me?"
Ranma-chan smiled as she poured the hot water over P-chan and then over
herself. Ryouga quickly put on his clothes. "Of course, Akane. Now what
about you?"
"Why are you doing this? This isn't like you!" said Akane feeling more
confused than ever.
"Well, something occured to me. Do you realize how big this place is? It
ain't big enough to put your Dojo and Ucchan's place in together. This
place couldn't be more than a city block. And unless my hunch is wrong "
"Which it usually is," Ryouga injected, "then he thinks we'll be here for
a while. And you know what, I'm starting to believe you. I'm not as lost
here than I would be on Earth."
"But it isn't that big either," said Akane.
"Still, you know I'd couldn't get out of a paper bag if I had to."
"Point taken," said Akane.
"So, we decided that perhaps we should bury the hatchet and decide who we
really love," said Ryouga.
"So, Akane, whom do you love?" asked Ranma.
She sheepishly replied, "Both of you." The boys face-faulted. So did the
audience at the secret room.
"At least she admitted to both," said Mrs. Tendo. "However, she'll have to
learn to deal with it."
Nabiki and Kuno could only grumble as they knew they were stuck with each
other.
"Let's go find out what the others discovered," said Kodachi, whom
wondered what would her mother do with her.
"Rather interesting, huh, Mousse?" said Shampoo as the two Chinese had
rode up the elevator together.
"Not as interesting as you, dear Shampoo," manically-grinned Mousse. They
finished their quickie, but did not undress, since there wasn't any need to
change. They were alone. The elevator opened and they saw a ladder with a
bronze plate of a book.
Shampoo giggled as she threw her clothes back into the elevator. Mousse
did as well. His weapons hit the button and they saw the elevator go back
down.
"Oops," gasped Mousse.
"That's okay," replied Shampoo. "I do hope they don't go up after us."
"Hey, the elevator is back down here," said Sayurki. It opened up and
there was Mousse's and Shampoo's clothing in a heap.
"Do they wear anything underneath that?" asked Daisuke.
Hirosuke big-sweated as he shook his head no.
"Isn't this island beautiful?" asked Dr. Tofu as he held Kasumi in his
grasps. They were looking at the island from the top of the large gear.
"Why, yes," said Kasumi as she felt as snug as a bug in a rug. "It is very
nice and neat. Why, Tofu! I never realized you had such beautiful eyes."
Tofu blinked, realizing he hadn't gone crazy as he would have normally
done when Kasumi was nearby. "Oh! Thank's, Kasumi."
"Well, that's all right."
"So, what is it about this island?"
"Do you see that shack over there, Dr. Tofu?"
"Why, yes, Kasumi."
"Mother told me that she and Mrs. Kuno have been living there for the last
three days now," giggled Kasumi. "It's a sort antiquated, but it will do."
"For us?"
"Of course," giggled Kasumi.
"Ohh!" groaned Mousse as the boy came into Shampoo's womb. Shampoo moaned
a bit before she kissed Mousse.
"Silly boy," she said, slightly smiling as juices started to trickle out
of her flower. "But great lover."
"Are you quite finished there?" shouted Sayuki, "We could you hear you all
the way down there!"
"Not that you weren't moaning a lot, Sayuki!" replied Hirosuke.
"You helped," shouted back Mousse. "And I'm sure that we weren't the only
ones that were screwing around here!" The elevator came back with their
clothes, Daisuke, and Yuka. Neither of them were wearing any clothes either.
"I think you want these," said a blushing Daisuke as he held out their
clothes. Yuki had their own clothes. "Now, let's get this puzzle solved."
"How do we solve it?"
"I guess there's book up there and," said Daisuke as he moved around
towards the back side of the elevator, "there's this key up here. But how
many are there?"
At the same time, Ryouga and Ranma were looking at Akane with a gaping
look of incredibility. "You mean you love both of us?"
"Yeah," weakly answered Akane. "For different reasons. Ryouga, you're a
very understanding boy, nevermind the pervert in you. You care for me,
listen to me, and I guess understand me more than Ranma does. And yet,
Ranma has something about him that's wild and, and unpredictable."
"What?!" the two boys said.
"Besides," added Akane. "I couldn't decided, even if I had to."
Ranma and Ryouga both massively fall on to the ground. She giggled.
"Great. Now, when they come to..."
"What does the first marker say?" said Mousse as he holds up a pad and paper.
"Seven, Two, Four," replied Yuka.
"That's it?" asked Shampoo.
"Yep, that's it. Where is the book at?"
"It's over near the cabin, Yuka," said Daisuke.
"Are you sure about that?" asked Mousse.
"Well, there's also a tree, and I think I see some brick around it. But,
it's hard to tell."
"Let me see," said Mousse. He climbed up and looked around. "There seems
to be more of the tree than the cabin, besides, there's a little indention
here, and its pointing to the tree."
Shampoo nodded. "Okay, let's find out the next key. Ready when you are!"
"Okay, let's go," said Kodachi as she and Ukyou turned the dial for the
next step.
They switched the dial to the clock.
Daisuke said, "The view is of the giant gears."
"The plaque reads two minutes and 40 seconds and two-two-one," added Yuka.
"Two minutes and fourty seconds?! What does that mean?!"
"Ooohohoho!" screamed Kodachi as she leaped up over the viewing tower.
"How'd you get here?!" panted Daisuke.
Kodachi said, "I climbed up the tower!"
"That's nice," muttered Hirosuke.
"Say, Kodachi, do you know what might be meant by two minutes and fourty
seconds?" asked Mousse.
"I do not know much, the only time piece there is that clock on the other
end of the island," Kodachi said. "I leaped over the water to get to the
switch there myself. It was quite a leap that not even Ranma might be able
to cross."
"Of course!" shouted Yuta. "It's a time! 2:40 pm!"
"Or am," added Daisuke.
"Did you notice anything unusual about that clock, Kodachi?" asked Mousse.
Kodachi put her hand on her chin, in a kinda of a Rose pose like her newly
reunited mother. "Well, there were two gears on the shore. I used them to
help me leap across."
"There might be something there. Okay, let's head to the next target,"
smiled Mousse.
As the sun was starting to set on the fourth day, Nabiki watched as the
stars started to appear in the deep black loneliness of space. Except this
wasn't the same space she was used to. To her, the stars had no pattern, as
of yet, and so there really wasn't anything she could comprehend at this
point. "Geez, there are more stars than I had ever thought," she said outloud.
"Ah Nabiki"
Nabiki jumped about eighteen inches off the ground. She turned around. It
was Kodachi.
Nabiki breathed a sigh of pain. "By Kami-sama, you scared me!"
"Sorry," said the gymnast, "but our mothers have called for a meeting. We
know what our next step is."
"Sure...wait, Kodachi," pleaded Nabiki. Have I reduced myself to pleading?
"Yes?" said Kodachi as she walked up towards her.
"I-I'd like to know, what do you think about your brother and me...engaged
like some business merger."
Kodachi closed her eyes and shook her head. "I don't know if you want my
opinion."
Nabiki screamed at her. "Are you nuts?! We're not made for each other?!"
"Have you seen what Akane did with Ranma-sama and that pig-boy down there?
Are you familiar with the term menag a tros?" smiled Kodachi as Nabiki
gasped.
"Why, Tachi found your other sister, Dr. Tofu and an unmentional corpse
together in a shack doing things even I find quite disturbing. This island
seems to have a pervertity curse, that causes everyone to fall extremely
mad in love. I'm not sure why it hasn't affected us yet, but I'm sure that
will happen soon. Perhaps it is waiting for the right moment."
"Has Kuno-baby blamed Ranma for this?"
"Strangely no, since Mother has convinced him that it is not Saotome's
fault," smirked Kodachi. "My brother did not need much to be convinced by
Mother, while I am a little more skeptical."
"How do you know about the curse?"
"Mother taught me about such things. She, like Bison deals with psychics
and emotions, but from what Ranma-sama has told her, Bison hasn't learned
anything new. Mother, however, has always learned a lot. I've at leasted
learned when to sense that something is not right. Apparently, this island
has made mother even stronger than she could ever be on Earth."
Nabiki had a look of unadultated fear. "And how do you feel about that?"
"Actually, I like that. But come, it's time for the meeting and supper.
And as for Tatchi and you, Niki, I honestly think that you two would make a
marvelous couple. For once, I think Mother is right about you." Kodachi
kissed Nabiki. "You may call me Kotchi, and my brother Tatchi, dear
sister-in-law, Niki." Kodachi hugged Nabiki as the two girls walked back to
the library. Nabiki could only shake her head in disgust.
"Okay, folks, we've figured it out," said Mousse as the meeting started.
"There are five useable books here. One seems to be a code book and the
other four talks about four different 'ages.' As far as Mrs. Kuno and
Tendo-sama knows, it could be different time periods or whole new worlds
altogether. Daisuke?"
Daisuke nodded as Mrs. Kuno's staff was handed from Mousse to Daisuke.
Mrs. Kuno insisted that the staff be used to recongizing people to speak.
Everyone else had to keep quiet, until they were recognized by Mrs. Tendo.
"Here are the four keys. We found the first one in the huge redwood tree.
Dr. Tofu determine that it is an unusual type of redwood that seems to be
extremely young. He estimated at 50 years. Trees don't usually get that
tall until they've reached at least 100 years."
There were facial expressions of amazement, especially from Ranma, who
knew a thing or two about trees.
Daisuke continued. "I've made a poster of the keys. I don't know how he
was able to make a malletspace in that crevas there in the hallway there."
He pointed to the hallway that connected the library atrium to the elevator
chamber. The poster read:
Tree: 7,2,4 Giant Gears: 2:40 (Time) 2,2,1
Spaceship: 59 volts
Sunken Ship: October 11, 1984 @ 10:04 am
 January 17, 1207 @ 5:46 am
 November 23, 9791 @ 6:57 am
"I now hand the staff to Miss Kuonji," ended Daisuke, which caused Ukyou
to blush.
"Sugar, you can just call me Ukyou. I've read these journals, and they are
rather queer. But, anyway there are four 'ages'. They are the Stoneship,
Mechanical, Selentic, and Channelwood. I've made plenty of notes for those
that will be going to these sights. Ranma, Shampoo, Mousse and me are going
to the Selentic age. The Tendos will head out to the mechanical age, along
with Dr. Tofu. The Kunos will go to the Stoneship. Yuka, Daisuke, Sayuri
and Hirosuke will go to the Channelwood age. I believe we'll leave first
thing after breakfast. Right, Mrs. Kuno?"
"Correct," she replied after Ukyou handed back her staff. "Now, let's have
a light supper and then we'll go to bed. Meeting adjurned. " Mrs. Tendo
whispered a chant and a huge table staddled the atrium with a cornacopia of
food.
"Muyi, dear," said Mrs. Kuno sweetly before she screamed, "you call this a
light supper?!"
"Well...yes, Suki," replied Mrs. Tendo.
"Nevermind that," said Ryouga. "Ranma'll eat half of it anyway."
"Ryouga! You little...okay I'm a little hungry," blushed Ranma as everyone
started to face-fault.
