The next day, Asuka came updeck and saw Ranma stand near the edge of the boat.
 "Whatre you doing?" she asked.
"Trying to develop a new technique," he reponded. He had his hand extended
forward over the side of the boat, his arm angled toward the water, palm toward
the sky.
Asuka watched from a nearby distance, shocked as she saw a faint blue aura
enveloped Ranmas.
He continued to stand there for a moment, arm still extended.
 "What kinda technique?" Asuka asked.
"A kinda vacuum slash," he answered, not opening his eyes.
After a moment or so, Ranma opened his eyes and quickly pulled his hand toward
his body. The speed of which he retracked his hand and the ki flowing forth from
it was so intense that it caused a vacuum as the air seemed as it had been
sucked away. That, in turn, caused the water from the ocean to rise up several
feet into the air in what seemd like a tiny yet evident tidal wave.
"Hm, gotta practice on it some more to get it right," he said. It was no where
near as powerful as he wanted it to be. But over time, it would get more and
more potent. He turned toward Asuka who was staring at him as if her were some
elemental magic user, "I saw someone, a guy named Ryuu, do that. Mines a very
different variation of it."
 Asuka was silent.
Ranma said, "Um, if youre interested in martial arts, I could always teach
you,"
Finally. One thing I've noticed is that in most of the ficts where Ranma
grows stronger as he gets older, it's generally a straightforeward growth in
strength with very little expansion in his technique. I myself think that the
opposite is much more likely. Not to say that he isn't likely to get stronger,
but his greatest capacity in the Manga has always been the fact that he could
learn faster and more thoroughly than any other character, and even basically
take a need and create something new and without basis to meet the need.
As time passes and Ranma's experience in martial arts expands, the most
fiting model for his ultimate manifestation of power wouln't be Goku, it'll be
Iffurita. Any martial arts technique he sees, and a lot of things unrelated to
martial arts will simply prompt him to think a moment then realise how they could
be created from his existing martial arts knowlege.
Example: Ranma sees a show on TV which gives a breif overview of how a
Railgun works. Ranma thinks of it a moment, heads out to a training ground and
picks up a stone. For a moment he concentrates his chi into the hand holding the
stone and then he throws it at at a tree, releasing the energy in a precise
manner at the same time the stone leaves his hand. The chi release will
accelerate the stone to Mach2, scratch one tree. Then the question will be if
this new technique is any better than the many other techniques he would know by
then.
