I got such a responce on this that I fixed it up a bit. Added a scene too.
Ranma 1/2 self insertion fic. The reluctant fiancee'

Disclaimer: Insert here. You probably know the drill by now.

Authors note. :Not all monks are chaste. I really just made up a sect and it
doesn't really matter what religion they are because they are not really all
that important to the story.
I ended up giving Shun Nanami's voice from El-Hazard. It just seemed to fit
the personality I was trying for well. Non mercenary and Cheerful but able to
make a buck of ya while she's at it.
I know I should be working on my other fic's right now but this idea came to
me and it was to irresistible to ignore. It didn't come out as well as I
wanted it to originally but I still deemed it worthy of posting. I kind of get
the impression that the ending can be seen coming from a mile away. Oh, well.
Also I should note that the perspective switches around sometimes. I am aware
of this, I was just sort of experimenting...
[[[[[mild spoiler warning]]]]] Nothing major really, but enough to piss off
some picky types.

It was a typical day in Jacksonville. The sun was shining, the birds were
singing, The smoke in the air was relatively light, and Sean D'anna was buying
Manga.
Sean stood against the wall of the comic store with a frown. He had just
enough to buy one tape. It would be Ranma 1/2 or El-Hazard. It was a tough
call. Which ever he bought didn't really matter in the long run because he
would just buy the other one in a few days time when he got paid. "Aaargghh I
cannot decide I love them both!" he cried in anguish earning a smile of
recognition from the clerk.
In the end he opted for Ranma. He had already seen El-Hazard as a rental.
"Well I've read all of Ranma too so I guess there won't be much suspense in
this either." he muttered as he paid for his tape. "Too bad the last few
Evangelion don't come out here for a few weeks."

How it happened is unimportant, that it did was.

Sean stepped out of the store and found himself standing several feet in the
air over a valley with hundreds of springs. "Oh, shit." he said to himself as
he fell. His head hit one of the rocks surrounding one of the pools and he
felt himself slip into the water as he blacked out. "What a great way to die."
he thought sarcastically.

A few moments later he woke up and frowned. "What the hell happened to me?"
he asked rubbing his head.
He looked around and saw that he was in a temple surrounded by Asian men in
orange robes. "Hello young lady. Welcome to our temple." said one of the men
to him.
"Young lady?" he thought as his memories flooded back to him. "Oh shit." he
thought again as he realized what had happened to him he felt his chest and
frowned. He was flat. He stood to his feet and looked up at the man who stood
before him easily dwarfing him. "What the hell?" he said out loud. "Where am
I?"
"We were on our way back to our home here in Japan, while on pilgrimage in
China one week ago, when our bus had broken down and we found you in a pool of
water. The man who helped us fish you out said that it was common to find such
things in the springs at that cursed place." said the man.
	"A week?" said little Sean.
"Yes you were very weak and had almost died. Tell me child what is your
name?" asked the monk.
"Sean." replied the boy still in a daze.
"Shun? It is a pleasure to meet you. You are welcome to stay as long as you
like, just mind the signs and remain outside the areas for men only. You will
also be expected to work and train." said the kindly monk.
"I guess I really don't have any place to go." replied Sean. "I guess he got
close enough to my name." he thought in mild annoyance. In the back of his
mind he wondered what would have happened if he had bought El-Hazard.

A few days later 'Shun' was holding 'herself' up over candles and nails in a
push up position. "Kindly old monk my ass!" he thought to himself as he
strained.
"That is enough for today. Go and help prepare dinner." said the monk to him.
"Sir." replied Sean. He strolled off to the kitchen wearily and watched as
the young Boys of the temple leered at her. He had tested the curse a few days
before and discovered that although he could turn back into a boy he also
remained six years old. Hot water was extremely difficult to come by in the
temple and he simply had little choice but to remain a girl. He had considered
telling the men about the curse but decided against it. As hard as he was
living the men had it harder. He cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and trained in
Kung fu. Other than that he was free to do as he pleased. Then they arrived.
Ranma and Genma Saotome. They were there on their infamous training voyage and
were to stay for a few weeks to learn Kung fu. Ranma was to help with the
chores while Genma meditated with the monks in exchange for the lessons and
boarding.
Shun as he had become known became quick friends with Ranma as he was in the
kitchen constantly. Shun had proven herself to be quite a good cook for
someone her age and she was learning more every day. Plus the fact that she
spent much of her free time in the training yard trying to do some of the more
advanced Kung fu forms as she watched them practice. It wasn't that she was
obsessive or anything. There just wasn't that much else to do.
She found herself spending allot of time with Ranma as the pair played
together. Mostly things like tag and very light sparring. They spent nights
talking and basically being little boys.
It also came to Shuns attention that one of the older and uglier boy's in
the temple had become...smitten with her charms. He was a grotesque gorilla of
a boy who almost every other child feared because of his temper. Shun was no
exemption.
It was a terrible day when the monk who had taken him in came to
'her' to discuss the preparations for the arrangements. He had mentioned it to
her mostly by accident.
"Shun do you like Munchi?" he asked as he walked with her down the hall.
"Why you gonna try to marry me off to him?" she had asked jokingly. The monks
silence told her everything. "No no way! I'd rather marry Ranma than that over
grown tub of lard!" she cried. You can guess what followed. The agreement was
drawn up within the hour...

I loved it. I had nothing to worry about after that. Tubbo got beaten out of
his claim to me by a totally oblivious Ranma the next day and I never had to
marry him because he would fall in love with Akane in a few years. I stayed as
an untouchable bride to be for ten years after that living the hard temple
life, which honestly wasn't all that bad. As corny as it sounds, I also
mastered Kung fu. I should also say, even though it sounds just as bad that I
learned a few techniques that I read from the manga, well a little modified. I
got the 'Pulling rice from a boiling pot training', and the 'breaking point',
well not exactly. Mine didn't involve hitting myself with rocks. Just
meditating until I could see the breaking point on my own. Call me a wuss why
don't ya. I ain't hitting myself with boulders, you got any idea how long it
took for the burn scars to go away after that rice thing? It should also be
noted that fifteen year old Ryoga Hibiki learned his razor cloth thing, ya
know the bandannas and the belt, from this temple, so did I. I didn't really
talk to him while he was there mostly because he was obsessive and shy. He
also didn't stay long. But hey, I tried to be friends, he wasn't rude or
anything, quite the opposite in fact. He just showed no real interest. Maybe
he'll remember me when I meet him again...

"So here I am ten years later in Nerima." said Shun with a smile as she
walked through the streets. She had managed to scrounge together enough money
to start her own business and was looking forward to seeing her 'fiancee'
again. Ranma had been the only real guy friend she had in the temple. She
looked across the street and saw that Ucchan's was there. She walked over and
looked at it curiously.
"Can I help you?" asked a familiar voice from behind her. Shun turned and
smiled.
"Hey, just checking out the competition." she said to Ukyo who had walked up
behind her.
"So, your the girl who bought that Yakatori place." said Ukyo with a smirk.
"Cmon in, I'm new here myself." she said pleasantly.
"I don't think so. Ya see thats not all I meant." said Shun with an
intelligent smile.
	"What?" said Ukyo in shock.
"Your Ranma Saotome's Fiancee' aren't you?" asked Shun calmly.
"Yea, what of it?" asked Ukyo suspiciously.
"Welcome to the club." said Shun.
	"What?" said Ukyo again.
"Ranma Saotome has more fiancee's than even he knows about. I aim to
collect." Shun said with a frown as she appraised Ukyo.
"You keep your hands off him you hussy!" cried Ukyo in anger as she pulled
her spatula off her back.
"If you want to win you'll have to do it fairly I'm afraid. I won't argue
about it, or fight with you. It won't matter in the end, its who Ranma chooses
that matters." Said Shun calmly.
"He doesn't have a choice, he is going to marry me." said Ukyo flatly.
"Then you have absolutely nothing to worry about do you?" asked Shun as she
turned and walked towards her new store. "Man this is going to be fun." she
thought to herself as she walked back to her store.

"Your getting sloppy Ranma!" laughed Genma as he kicked at Ranma who dodged
and kicked back.
"Your just getting old and slow old man." he quipped back.
"Ranma Saotome?" said a feminine voice from the front yard.
Ranma and Genma turned to see a young red haired girl standing on the wall
with a grin on her face. She was dressed in a blue traditional Kung fu outfit
and had a red sash tied across her waist. Genma went pale and dove for the
pond that was still out of the girl's view.
Ranma didn't notice. "Uh, do I know you?" he asked her and scratched his
head.
Genma held up a sign from around the corner that said "Hide boy!"
Ranma saw this and frowned. "You aren't out for revenge or trying to marry me
are you?" he asked with a sigh.
"Yea, the latter." she said with a nervous giggle.
"Again?! Pop you have some explaining to do!" he yelled at the panda who was
playing with a beach ball.
"Is that something you brought back from China?" asked the girl as she jumped
down next to Ranma smiling cheerfully.
"Uh, yea something like that." he said to her laughing nervously.
"You really don't recognize me?" asked the girl with a frown.
Ranma looked at her and thought for a really long time. "Uhhh, yes?" he said
finally. Then it hit him. "Shun chan?" he said staring at her hair for a
moment.
"Of course. How many red heads do you know in Japan?" she said smirking at
him.
"Just you." he said after another moment of thought.
"Well its nice to see you haven't changed." said Shun calmly.
"Uh yea, Did pop get you engaged to me?" he asked looking sheepish.
"I'm afraid so, and the contract was signed on holy ground." said Shun with a
huge grin.
"Ranma, who is that?" said yet another familiar voice from behind him.
"Uh oh." said Ranma looking very afraid.
"Hi, I'm Ranma's fiancee'." said Shun calmly.
Akane glared at Ranma for a moment and began to glow blue. "Ranma!" she
growled at him.
"I-I can explain." stammered Ranma as he backed away. "Pop-"
Akane charged at him and he gave up and sighed.
"What do you think your doing?" asked Shun as she grabbed Akane's wrist and
threw her to the ground.
"This is none of your business." snapped Akane as she landed on her feet in a
defensive posture.
"I'm afraid it is, Ranma is my fiancee' and at the very least my friend. I
won't allow you to hurt him. This is not his fault or mine." said Shun to
Akane calmly.
Akane growled and sat down on the grass. "Fine, go ahead Ranma." she said
bitterly.
"Here's my card Ranma. Stop by and see me later. I won't be bullied by this
childish little girl." said Shun as she jumped away.

A few day's later Cologne stopped by. "Well it seems your doing quite well
for yourself my dear." she said as she walked in to the small Yakatori
Restaurant.
"Your from the Cat Cafe' right?" asked Shun as she watched Cologne warily.
"Yes, just thought I'd stop by and check out the competition." said Cologne
with a smile.
"Business or Ranma?" asked Shun jokingly
	"Both." said Cologne.
"Well, I wouldn't worry much. I'm not really expecting to win. I have to play
along because the contract was signed on holy ground, I'm sure you heard about
that incident with Ukyo. I just like pulling her chain. You hungry?" said Shun
absently as she prepared several dishes for the few customers in the store.
"Tell me. Where did you learn the chestnut fist?" said Cologne sharply as she
eyed the girls movements.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" said the girl.
"That." said Cologne pointing at Shauns hands as they blurred for a moment
over the rice pot.
"Oh, you mean pulling rice out of boiling water?" she asked Cologne. "I grew
up in a monastery. I learned a little martial arts while I was there." she
said cheerfully.
"I see." said Cologne as she walked out. "I thank you for your time."
Shun was really enjoying herself yet again. A few moments later Ranma came in
looking battered. "Hey Ranchan, What happened?" she asked him.
"Well first Ryoga showed up and then Kuno, Akane got some weird wrong Idea in
her head and...."

A few days pass and Ryoga stumbles through the door of the Yakatori shack.
"Hey I know you." said Shun looking thoughtful "Ryoga Hibiki right?" she asked
him cheerfully.
	"Yea, uhh how?.." began Ryoga.
"I was at that temple you stayed at for a little while about a year ago. I
can imagine you not remembering but we didn't get many visitors out there."
said Shun smiling at him in her usual cheery disposition. It was kind of
making her sick.
"Oh yes, I remember now. You were the girl who used to watch the mens
practice and do it with them from the court yard." he said to her.
"Yup." said the girl with her grin widening.
"You were very good." said Ryoga politely.
"Thanks, what can I do ya for?" she asked him.
"Could you tell me where the Tendo dojo is? I'm kind of lost." said Ryoga
with a fanged grin.

	A few hours later...

"Hey Mousse what's up?" asked Shun as the blind boy stumbled into the place.
"I hate Ranma." he said as he sat down.
"Why is that?" asked the girl as she leaned on the counter.
"Whats it to you? You want to marry him too." he grumbled at her.
"Doesn't mean I don't care." said Shun calmly. "He's really a pretty trust
worthy guy most of the time. Not always but usually, unless you have something
he wants." she said with a smile.
"Yea, and he has Shampoo." grumbled Mousse.
"But does he want her?" said Shun pretending to look thoughtful.
"Of course! Who wouldn't?" yelled Mousse.
"I wouldn't, what makes you think Ranma's any different?" said Shun flatly.
"Your a girl though." muttered Mousse.
"Why does that matter? Believing that every guy has the same desires and
feelings as you is the height of ignorance." said Shun flatly.
"Ranma is gay?" asked Mousse in suprise.
"Get some sleep. Maybe it will sink in when your older." said Shun with a
resigned sigh.
"I should have known better that to try to talk some sense into these fools."
she thought to herself.

A few days later Shun began school.
