This is my first attempt at a
fanfic. Please don't kill me. I know this sounds
very cliched, but
everyone's got to start somewhere. Also, remember that these
characters do
not belong to me. I didn't create them, no matter how much I wish
I had. I
am only a poor little student. This is purely for entertainment.
Ryouga's Promise
by Jane Crockford
"RANMA!!! Get back
here and apologize for being mean to my P-chan!" The angered
shouts
echoed though the neighborhood, shattering the calm of the evening.
"Aww Akane, I didn't
do nothin' to that pig. He attacked me first," Ranma
whined.
"You are such a
liar! I hate you!" I couldn't help smirking at Ranma from my
comfortable perch in Akane's arms as she hugged me to her protectively.
"Too bad
you can't be like Ryouga. He is always so sweet and
gentlemanly, not rude and
stupid like you are!"
I was very careful to
catch Ranma's eyes and give him my most evilly smug grin.
It really is
amazing how many expressions you can get from a cute baby pig face.
Then
again, I do get lots of practice.
I almost have it...
"W-why h-hello
Akane," I stuttered. It really does take a lot of work to keep
the
bashful act going, but it's worth it.
"Oh, hi Ryouga! It's
so nice to see you again." Akane gave me one of her happy
smiles, and
from the corner of my eye I saw Ranma scowling at me. I smiled
inwardly,
putting on my most convincing shy act.
It won't be long now...
"I--I
broughtyousomethingfrommytravels!" I pulled out a sickeningly cute stuffed
animal and shoved it into Akane's startled arms. "I believe it is
called a
woodchuck."
"How cute! Thank you
so much! That was very sweet of you." Impulsively, she gave
me a bear
hug and one of her bigger smiles. Ranma calls those smiles beautiful
or
something, but I don't think I would call it anything but perky.
"A-Akane,
wouldyouliketogoouttodinnerwithmetonight?" Phew, it should take at
least five minutes for Akane to figure out what I just said. I don't think I
would have understood if it hadn't been scripted.
The next moment was one
of the longest I had ever experienced. I calculated how
long it would take
her to decipher my offer and make a decision. I knew how she
would respond,
but it took so much effort to keep the mask of nervous
hopefulness in place
and keep the gloating inside.
Akane was a picture of
shock. As she finally figured out what I asked her,
emotions (namely
surprise, guilt, anger, and joy) began to fight openly for
possession of her
face. Ranma was starting to glow with anger. I didn't worry
about him
attacking me. If he did, Akane would just yell at him and come to me
sooner.
She always takes my side. And even if he did attack...He doesn't know
how
much serious training I do every time I get "lost"...
The moment passed as the
battle for Akane's face drew to a close. Happiness had
won and started
spreading across her face. Of course with me, it didn't have any
competitors.
"Of course. I'd love
to go out with you!" She giggled girlishly at me and I let
her bask in
the "warmth" of my adoring gaze.
I didn't let my mask drop
until Akane was safely in her room and I was alone
with Ranma. I chuckled at
the innocence of the "love of my life" and shot Ranma
the most
imperiously venom-filled glare I could. I laughed at the stricken
expression
on his face as he stared at the empty place Akane had occupied just
moments
before. I thought back to the words we exchanged the first time I found
him
in Nerima.
"No matter what it
takes, Ranma...I shall destroy your happiness!"
"My happiness?"
He had turned to Akane and asked her:"Am I happy?"
At that moment, I had
planned my revenge.
It was very simple. All I
had to do was use my superior charms to steal Akane
from his grasp once he
had time to really become attached to the creature. His
insulting behavior
made it so impossible easy for me. At last, the wheels were
in motion and my
great plan had begun.
"I am a man of my word, Ranma. I always keep my
promises."
AUTHOR'S NOTES!: Whee... that was fun... I still
don't really know where this
came from except a little while ago I was
rereading volume 1 of the manga and
saw Ryouga's little threat. I started to
wonder why he never carried out his
threat. I also wondered how he had
fallen for Akane so quickly. The two thoughts
crashed and *boom*, this story
appeared on a piece of paper just a few hours
later.
I do apologize if I've
offended someone with this story. I adore Ryouga too, but
I don't hate
me...
I'll probably write more later, do you think I should? I haven't
decided yet.
Email me with questions, comments and criticism. Please? I love
the
attention.^_~ Just leave the flames out of it.
