Subject: [FFML] [spam/rant] A word about fic requests...

There are a lot of people here who really need to go back and review
the FFML FAQ.

Particularly the section about posting fic requests to the list.

It's understandable to post a fic request ONLY if you're looking for
one particular fic, don't know the author/title, and can't find it
anywhere on the net.

Which, basically, is a rather unlikely situation, as most fanfiction
which has been read by more than a few people is archived *somewhere*
for public access.

For all of you who post requests for certain types of fics...I
strongly advise you to learn how to use a basic web search engine.
AltaVista, Excite, Yahoo, HotBot, Webcrawler, etc...which, let's face
it, all use the same search database...are readily available most of
the time, and all it takes is a few choice keywords (such as
"Evangelion fanfic").

And, of course, aside from the RAAC archives, there's always this
page: www.anipike.com/fanfic.html, which has an extensive listing of
fanfiction sites. Claiming that you looked there and found nothing
only means that you didn't look hard enough.

We have enough spam here without a new crop of fic requests popping
up every day, especially when the FAQ says not to post fic requests
in the first place. Spam such as this, for instance.
