when it comes to Jusenkyo curses. Does Ryoga, Shampoo or

forms? No! Their true selves are merely locked away in the
form of said creatures. And the same goes for Ranma. Now,
Scott Jamison's doing a terrific job taking the opposite tack,
insofar as Ranma's curse gives him the mind of a female as
well as the body, but it's quite clearly a completely different
person when in 'Ranko's' form.

Not totally true. In the manga and anime. Ranma does
become
more playful and fliratitious when in female form.
Very true, Ranma denys it, but his personality does change when her
becomes a girl.
My theory? Hormones.

Naa, it's not that. Well, it could be, but I think there is a simpler answer.
All his life Ranma had the way a man was suppose to behave driven into him.
There were lots of things he wanted to do, but a man did not do those things.
Eating Ice Cream Parfaits, for one. ^_^
In some ways, His female form frees Ranma from a straight jacket of
conformity he is not even aware he wears. He can have fun without worrying
about jeopardizing his macho image.
