There is not a shred of evidence to support the claim that any effects
of the curse changes anything other than the form, regardless of what
Lawson thinks. It's also the easiest explanation for the curse, so, in
the absence of any evidence, the most true explanation.
False- There is the Spring of Drowned Priest which changes the attitude
of the person to that of priest-like
qualities as well as the form. It is also suggested of that in Spring of
Drowned "good sumaritan" or "vitruous man", whichever translation of the
Manga you prefer, changes personality. This is the water Pantyhose Taro
thinks he has to pour on Happosai. It turns out to be from the spring of
drowned Twins instead.
The theory that the cursed form will stay 16 forever is debunked in the
manga, in specific the Mushroom of Years arc; Ranma's and Ryouga's
cursed and uncursed forms suffered the same age-altering effects of the
mushrooms.
This is true, but can be untrue. It is implied some of the Anime and
Manga, certain forms will age while others will not, or will only age to
a certain point. According to the guide, whoever falls into the Spring
of Drowned Girl will take the body of a young girl. Although it can be
argued, my thoughts would be that the form would not age past a certain
point, the point in which it would no longer be considered young. Again,
this would be natural aging, not magical aging as the mushrooms did. I
do agree, but disagree as well if you know what I mean here. If it were
Spring of Drowned 16 year old girl, the curse
would not age.
Whether it be the properties of the curse, the power of the ki
techniques, a question of speed, strength, endurance, etc, the good
fanfic writer should go no further than what is directly represented in
the manga, and, when there is no material to go by, the writer then
must
strive to conform as closely as possible to the 'spirit' of the manga
--
that is, he must take what is in the material in the SIMPLEST, MOST
OBVIOUS LIGHT POSSIBLE, and make a new continuity, which must not only
not disagree with canon, but must exist as the simplest, most obvious
and logical extension of the same.
I really hate to say this, but Canon is not the Gospel. As far as I am
concerned the only true facts and strong support for any argument comes
from the original Manga and/or Anime by Rumiko Takahashi, after all she
is the creator. All fanfiction is based upon what an author wants or
chooses to accomplish and while ideas may spring from them, they should
not be used to judge other fanfics, ideas, or to base arguments off of
if the argument is outside the universe in which the idea is spawned.
There will NEVER be another Canon because only the author of that series
will be able to keep the ideas going. There may be universes similar,
but as soon as an author toys with the regular Ranma universe, it is a
different fanfic.
