O.k, here's this question that's been bothering me for a very long time.
Just how much water is actually needed to activate a Jusenkyo curse? I
know that the standared is a bucket or a teakettle. But does any body
know what the smallest incriment is? Or if there is a varying amount.
For example, do you only need to soak one area, like the head instead of
the whole body? Or do you not even need to completely soak ones self?
In response to this, I'm reminded of the scene in 'Who Framed Roger
Rabbit?' where Roger and Eddie are handcuffed together. As Eddie Valiant
desperately hacks away at the chains with a saw, Roger slips his paw through
the cuff easily, and starts to help Eddie saw. Eddie roars in anger, "You
could have done that all along?!"
Roger then replies in a perfectly oblivious way, "No, only when it's funny."
This, I think, defines how much water a victim needs to transform. As we
have a law of gravity in our reality, anime worlds have what I like to call
a 'Law of Comic Necessity'. The amount of water needed to transform Ranma or
any of the other Jyusenkyo victims is inversely proportionate to the size of
the laughs and/or embarrassing hijinks that will happen after the
transformation. The bigger the laughs the situation will get, the less water
you need to CAUSE the situation to occur.
That defines things pretty well, in my opinion. It may not be perfect, but
it's a useful working hypothesis.
That's just my $0.02 worth of philosophy. Take it with a grain or two of
salt.
